Historic Matches

I would like people to post some of their favourite historic matches. When I mean Historic, I dont mean a 5 star classic.. im talking about Historical importance.

I'd have to go with Hogan v Andre at WrestleMania III.
This was the very definition of a money match if there ever was one. 93,000 were on hand to witness it and the anticipation was tremendous since the match was announced. The feud was Simple the undefeated Andre the Giant got rewarded a trophy by Jack Tunney for his achievements, only to see his friend Hogan get awarded a BIGGER trophy.
Anyway, the Heat for Andre was absolutely riotous when he came down to the ring at WM III and the cheers for Hogan were deafening. The match itself was an absolute abortion, but the most historic moment in Wrestling came when Hogan bodyslammed Andre and dropped the Leg to pin him.

To watch it back in the day was something to behold, and probably one of the biggest mark out moments of my life. I wasnt a huge Hogan fan by any stretch.. But this match meant something, up until that point it was the biggest match ever.. and Is definately my favourite Historic match.

Hogan vs The Warrior..WM something?

Actually not to bad of a match considering who was involved..it was pretty up tempo from what I remember..and it seemed huge at the time..there was no baby face betrayal of Hogan or Heenan's vendetta, just the two biggest names on the WWF going at it one on one...
The room was completely silent when Warrior won and cleanly at that!! I don't think I'd seen Hogan lose a straight up singles match since his AWA days..We were so happy thinking Hulkamania was dead, little did we know..
My brother and I still talk about that match to this day because it was so unbelievable at the time..

It was actually 78,000. I thought everyone knew this by now. The 93,000 is a worked number that Vince worked everyone on, including the boys and all the media. The media and general public so much believes that the number is 93,000, that when Bryan Alvarez wrote an article for Penthouse, referring to the show as having drawn 78,000, they made him change it to 93,000 regardless of the fact that he had the word from the promoter in Detroit that promoted the show. Summerslam '92 from Wembley actually drew slightly more fans and did a bigger gate.

On the same show my favorite match of all time took place. Savage vs. Steamboat. Those two went out on the biggest stage ever and stole the entire show. Andre/Hogan was the money match. Savage/ Steamboat was the wrestling purest's match.

My selection is....

BRET FUCKING HART vs. THE STONE COLD MILLION DOLLAR MAN STEVE SON OF A BITCH AUSTIN!!!! WRESTLEMANIA~! THIRTEEN!!! OF DOOOOM!!!

Your!~! Canadian!! Hero!! And mine, Bret Hart sets foot into the dramatic confines of the Rosemont Horizon!!! Everyone LOVES~! Bret Hart~!~!

BUT WAIT!!!!!!!!~!

Bret Hart is a whiner!!! Even more, it is 1997 and American culture is CHANGING!!!~! ENTER STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN~!~!~!~

FUCK SHIT CURSE FUCKING SWEAR DAMNIT SON OF A BITCH STEVE AUSTIN!!!! STEVE AUSTIN IS A FOUL-MOUTH!!! HE TAKES MATTERS INTO HIS OWN HANDS AND GIVES PEOPLE WHAT! THEY! DESERVE!!! AS THOUSANDS OF BLOODTHIRSTY AMERICANS (whom he cares nothing about -- part of his appeal) CHEER HIM ON!!!!

LIVE~! On MON!DAY! NIGHT! RAW! Bret Hart is SCREWED~! (even 8 months before he was screwed~! LEGIT!!) in a STEEL CAGE match against Psycho Sid for the WWF Title. As the cage is being disassembled, Bret angerly explains how he's been SCREWED~! He's been stabbed in the back!! He says BULLSHIT!!!! on live television~!~!~!~! And then SHOVES! VINCENT KENNEDY MC FUCKING MAHON~!~!~!~!~!

Enter the Rosemont Horizon in Rosemont, Illinois (that's just outside of Chicago, for those not familiar with CHI-TOWN RUMBLE~!).

With LEGIT~! SHOOTER~! KEN SHAMROCK as special referee, the only way to win is BY MAKING YOUR OPPONENT SUBMIT~!~!~! Before we were desensitized to hardcore nonsense, it's 1997!!! and Bret Hart and Steve Austin brawl around the arena~!!!~! Before long, Bret puts the FREAKING HEEEEAAAT!!! on Steve Austin!!

Austin slices the most important gigging ever!!! Austin BLEEDS BUCKETS and rates highly on the MUTA SCALE~!~! A SOLID 0.7! After giving Austin the ass beating of a lifetime, Bret locks in the Sharpshooter~! Austin powers out~! BUT NO! HE DOESN'T!!! Austin bleeds a crimson puddle on the mat under his head!!! HE SCREAMS!!! HE STRUGGLES!~! HE PASSES~! OUT~! FROM~! THE~! PAIN~!~!~!~!~!!! Jim Ross screams, "AUSTIN NEVER GAVE UP! AUSTIN NEVER GAVE UP!~! AUSTIN NEVER GAVE UP!!!~!~!"

Bret gives him a STOMP OF EEEEVIL~! to the leg as he walks out of the ring!! Steve Austin REFUSES help from anyone! Broken, he gives a referee a STUNNER! AND HE LIMPS UP THE AISLE ON~! HIS~! OWN~! POWER~! TO CHEERS!!!!!

And the double turn was executed.

Personally favorites of mine are in order:

The 2000 WM First ever TLC match featuring the Hardy Boys, Dudlez and E&C. (Best match EVER !)

Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior when Warrior wins the belt.

Randy Savage winning the WWF Title after going 3 rounds in a tourny for the vacated title. It may have even been on Saturday Night Main Event.

Chris Jericho beats The Rock and SCSA to become the first ever Undisputed WWE Champion.

The ManKind/Rock "I Quit" Match - That match is single handedly responsable for making me switch the channel permanently from WCW to WWF programming. I was hooked on WWF full time after that. I never watched WCW again.

It's about time......now bring on his next fued....

I totally should have added that match. I wasnt crazy about either guy ever while watching the WWE over the years but that match brought crazy chills down my back.

Honorable mention to when Jericho won the title from HHH but HHH had Hebner scrap the win from the record books. (HHH was afraid Jericho would be a much bigger star then him )

Ya that would be my pick, mostly cuz I was there to see it and it was amazing to see it live in person. I didn't know who to cheer for lol. I mostly was cheering for the Rock but I was happy Hogan was getting face poops too.
