Matt Hardy comments on Internet writers & fans

The following from http://www.knowyournews.com/report071004-6.html

The primary topic of Hardy's commentary is his frustration with the Internet, and specifically, with Internet wrestling writers. "I’m aware of the fact that the Internet wrestling community is slightly influential in the progression of the wrestling business," he says. "Too many people read someone’s opinion on the Internet and take it as factual information. It’s way too often that the majority of the Internet wrestling community takes a writer’s view and lazily allows that to become their view." Hardy even throws in examples, such as Internet reaction to his current storyline with Kane and Lita. Hardy explains that Internet writers seem to dislike the angle, yet he claims that their segments are the most watched on Raw, and his match with Kane at Vengeance has led a poll at WWE.com with respect to the most anticipated match on the card. "There are many aspects of the wrestling business that only people on the inside understand," he says. "It’s impossible to be on the outside of this business and understand how everything works within it."

Is he for real? Who in their right mind would most anticipate the Kane vs Hardy match at Vengeance. Furthermore, who are all watching their segments on RAW to make them the most watched? Sounds like he's wishingfully thinking a lot of this stuff.

And yet another wrestler insulting us Internet fans by telling us that we don't understand the business cause we're not in it. So..I guess if we were on the inside, a stupid pregnancy angle would be the best idea ever. Any thoughts on this Hardy crap?

I've been a supporter of Matt Hardy for a long time. I feel he's being under-utilized by WWE, and moving from Smackdown! to RAW was a mistake. I know he wanted to be able to travel with Lita, but his career is going nowhere. Pregnancy angles never work. Matt, the wrestling fan he is, knows this deep down. I thought his comments were off the mark. Why wrestlers assume that most wrestling fans are still ignorant, dumb people amazes me. It's 2004 not 1964, Matt. Most people are smart enough to realize what is good for the business and what isn't. It's not your fault you're in a lousy storyline, so please don't take out your frustration on us. If you should be blaming anyone for not knowing how the wrestling business works, why don't you take a look at the writers for both RAW and Smackdown!? Those are the people that don't understand how the wrestling business works, not the fans.

If you dont like criticism, dont be in this game. I pay his bills and if I wanna say that I dont like something I will. And how can he say we dont understand this business. The thing i know is, I know what I like and thats the only thing that matters.

To me it depends on which writer you listen to. Jimmy Van is in the wrestling buissness and knows what he's talking about. Also I've seen wrestling writers on the internet act like assholes and just say "The Test vs. Stevie Richards match sucked" and not go further with it. JV will tell you what went wrong and what went right in a match. So while I don't always agree with him, (Mark Henry's the man) I read his honest reviews and take them to heart.

So in conclusion, it was a broad assumption on Hardy's part to say that if net fans listen to a writer and has to have to be their opinion.
