Smackdown 6-25-04

Damn, that wasnt a bad episode at all. The Undertaker/Cena main event was worth the whole 2 hours.

Smackdown was actually much better than Raw this week. Cena and Taker have great chemistry together in the ring.

I still say Taker will be the champ very soon. Smackdown rating would benefit if he was the champ. The crowd has already turned on him. Plus he may not be around much longer.

R.I.P Cena. Taker pins Cena as I write this.

I like how he is tormented over being evil or not. Ultimately he will choose evil which will work for ratings. The power of Heyman with the urn is a nice little storyline.

I still think the whole Paul Bearer concrete thing is kinda cheesy still.

Thanks for reading my rant.

It's about time......now bring on his next fued....

I was flipping back and forth between Smackdown, the Yankee game, and the NBA Draft, so i didnt see much, but the Cena-Taker match was really good. Cena came out looking strong also

I also saw the Kenzo Suzuki match. It was kinda....blah. I guess thats all i can say. it was just there. Not very good, not terribly bad.

By the way, did anyone notice the "Suzuki fears Ichiro" sign?

JVN's Number 1 Grisham Mark !!

I haven't yet seen most of the broadcast, which is usually the case for me on Thursday nights. But I did catch the segment with Eddie Guerrero and John Bradshaw Layfield, and I'm concerned for the Great American Bash given that Guerrero got the best of Layfield on SmackDown! and according to "WWE 101", that means Layfield may get the receipt via the win at the PPV. I'm not sure that anybody wants to see Bradshaw get the WWE Title, so let's hope that WWE shows some common sense.

On to Mordecai. I feel that WWE has completely dropped the ball with the whole character, starting with the wrestler chosen to portray it. I feel that Kevin Fertig is the wrong choice; he hasn't impressed me in the ring, he hasn't impressed me with his promo work, and if anything he is indicative of how good Mark Callaway really was to have turned The Undertaker into such a legendary character.

I also don't understand why Mordecai was suddenly battling Hardcore Holly on SmackDown! after having singled out Eddie Guerrero in a recent promo. I understand that the brawl with Holly was done to setup a match for Mordecai on the PPV, but his intentions towards Guerrero will be all but forgotten if not followed up.

I'm anticipating a good match between Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio at the Bash, as those two know each other very well and have tremendous chemistry in the ring together.

I can't see Bradshaw getting the title either. But I agree that typically the way WWE works, Bradshaw will win the title.

Mordecai has the look and voice (his voice reminds me of someone hired to do voice promos or something) but he comes off as a hyped up mid carder. This feud with Holly makes no sense and seems to ruin his push he was getting. No one is going to care about that match as all.

I was hoping Kidman was going to win the battle royal. I don't know why but I am getting sick of Chavo. I wanted to see 2 faces go at it for the tile for once. Kindman/ Mysterio would have been more entertaining.

JV, I thought Canada wasn't getting the PPV unless you go see it on the big screen?

The gravelly bit of his voice reminds me of the late great Freddie Blassie pre-PPV promos. I think thats where your recollection is coming from Ida.

Mordecai is played by Kevin Fertig who was Seven in OWV right? Wasnt his character kinda similar there? Although the look was totally different from pictures ive seen. He actually looked alot more 'Taker-like' as Seven from what I remember. I might be totally off the mark, but I could have sworn Seven was supposed to be a 'darker' character. JV?

Canadians if you have a decent link and dont mind watching the PPV on your PC and have a decent speed link, the webcast isnt bad quality. Theyre giving away a huge package of webcast views to go with it too so it might be worth a look if you REALLY wanna see the PPV and can't see it on a traditional PPV provider. We UK fans are having to pay for the thing on Sky Box Office too Which is major annoying!
