Rep Power: 5 | Flair shoots on "Insider fans" Ric Flair was recently interviewed in the UK, and he was asked whether he preferred "working as a heel or a face" and he took offense to the question. Whe he was asked why, he had this to say:
"Well fans who use terms like that I have no respect for, because they're not wrestlers. That's a wrestlers terminology. See that's inside talk - I don't like outsiders using inside talk - I have no respect for it whatsoever. Everybody wants to think that they're a wrestler. The guy who wrote my book the first time, I'd go on record as saying is a *%$^£&$ idiot - it had to be re-written. He took everything I said and wrote it like he was on the inside. He will go down in history and I will make sure he does, as the biggest idiot ever be given an opportunity and completely ^%$& it up, 'cos he talked like he was on the inside.
You know fans want to talk to us using our terminology and it's a lot of our guys faults, cos they want to talk to the fans and get their opinions. They want to talk to them like they're on the inside. So that's why I'm asking you why you said that, but it's ok, you're asking me questions the fans have asked. I do have a lot of respect for the fans but I don't like the fans who think they can talk like they're on the inside, cos they're not. We've got too many guys in our businesses that rely on the opinion of some fan who thinks he's smart - it's a real issue for me."
Personally, I love Ric Flair...best wrestler ever. However, you don't bash your fan base, that's just common sense. Remember the backlash when HHH said internet fans knew nothing? This would be like the NFL calling everyone in the NFC fat and stupid. Doesn't make sense from a business standpoint. It's funny, when business is down, you ever notice how much more bad press comes out of wrestling.
Yet, back during the Attitude Era, when business was booming, Jim Ross had this to say about internet fans:
"I've seen insight that has really suprised me. There are many students of the game out there on the internet that really know what they are talking about."
Judge not, yest ye be judged.

Rep Power: 24 | Ya, that was a stupid thing to him to say. What does he want to say? Good guy and bad guy? This isn't 85. I think he was drunk or something. He was being a heel is all.

Rep Power: 8 | I will defend Flair in his rant.
I don't think it's right to slate into your fan base, but I do see where he's coming from. It must be frustrating when people constantly criticise your product even though they may lack the knowledge or know-how you think the people making your product do.
Plus, there is a fair percentage of the "Net fans" who don't seem to know what they're on about. They suggest bull-shit ideas and just bitch. We don't get any of that here luckily, which makes a nice change. | | 3D. Wrestling Clique, Monksdiner, JimmyVan and KnowYourNews' Crafty Old Veteran. |

Rep Power: 24 | That's fine but all he was asked was whether he preferred "working as a heel or a face".I'm sorry but tuff shit if he doesn't like anyone but wrestlers using those terms and it is more retarded the Eugene to get offended by that.

Rep Power: 6 | Flair can go to hell. He had better have just been playing up his bad guy persona, cause I worship the man and if hes going to get down on us for wanting to know more about the business he had better go get his prescriptions upped. Fans like to be knowledgeable about what they love and they would like to be able to converse with their heroes and each other and use terms that the people in the business do. Screw Flair, if there wasn't people like us and other who want to know as much as they can there will never be new wrestlers in the future and no one will ever care about the business anymore.

Rep Power: 6 | Thats one of the most pathetic things ive ever heard. If I suddenly decided i was a indy wrestler, would it be ok for me to say it? Because im a wrestler now, theres no special certificate for wrestlers or anything that can make it an 'inside' thing. Im studying medicine at the moment, can you imagine if someone came to me saying they had a lump and thought it may be cancerous and i turned round an said "im sorry, you cant say that word, your not on the inside". What a prick. I just lost so much respect for him by reading two paragraphs |
Rhyno's #1 mark just layed the smackdown!
If I am no one, and no one is perfect, then I am perfect. |

Rep Power: 47 | I've heard several stories about Ric Flair being a dick in real life. Stuff like refusing to sign autographs, and being confrontational with radio hosts, etc.
Also, getting mad about fans saying "heel" and "face" is like a football player getting mad at a fan for knowing how the Cover 2 defense works, or something like that
Also, it cant be that "inside", since on the SD games for PlayStation, you designate people as heels and faces
