Bradshaw (& Booker T) *spoilers*

Anyone catch Smackdown last night? If so, what did you think of Bradshaw's new gimmick and heel turn? I kinda like it, myself. He was getting quite stale with that beer-drinking APA stuff.

PS - Booker T apparently turned heel on the show too. I'm indifferent about him so I don't care either way.

Man, I loved Bradshaw's new heel turn, I was never a Bradshaw fan in the past but now his promo blew me away last night, it was great stuff. Honestly, I don't think Kurt Angle is a good SD GM, Kurt was kind of boring IMO on the mic, I think Bradshaw would have made a better Smackdown GM. I love Bradshaw's new gimmick funny stuff. Finally, WWE gave Bradshaw a good gimmick that don't bore me to tears.

I think with the Booker T thing they are setting us up for more than just a heel turn. He's putting down everyone and SD. RVD was in the locker room when Eddie was welcoming and saying hi, yet Book and RVD didn't even catch eyes...? Christ they were just tag champs! I did find it funny when he said he was more over than Cena, Bigger than the Big Show, even UT. The best way I can see this going is to add fuel to the SD vs. Raw angle. SD has the friendly locker room, Raw doesn't, SD is for fresh-new talent, Raw is the retirment home... that sort of thing.

Kurt as GM didn't work for me. He bit on the mic. I think it's because he had his prepared script to work with as opposed to when he is just out there talking about a topic. He seemed to be thinking too hard as GM when working the mic because certain things need to be said instead of just going out talking about Eddie or a match. I say let him go with it and don't give him too much to blurt out at once, even if they have to cut him into a few segments throughout the show so he can say all he needs to about different things like the other GMs do or have done.

Bradshaw? The jury is still out on this one...

Rvd looked stiff in the ring, not his best preformance. Hard to gain the Mr. Thursday night title again working like that.

And the crowd really didn't seem into it or into the Raw boys. Hopefully it's just an adjustment period since it's been well documented that alot of fans are more particular to their brand. We'll have to give it time and some new angles to work with, like Dupree and Cena. Two young gifted preformers, I hope it elevates Dupree's game.

Dudley's looked a little like the Dudley's of old.

Too bad the characters had to drop their attitudes so quickly with the move to SD though. I mean the Duds were starting to go heel and more vicious, Book was still a nice enough guy, RVD seemed like a rookie again... this is all stuff they could have worked in within a few weeks.

As always, that's my take on things.

I love the idea of GM Angle. It's much better than him being completely off TV until he's ready to wrestle again. I just hope he goes back to being a comedic heel because it's much more appropriate for the GM role.

Well SD! filled the gap that Brock Left.

I mean B & B (Booker and Bradshaw) have both been faces for sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long it's refreshing to see both as heels now. I especally like Bradshaw's gimmick, he's part Irving R. Shyster and part Dr. Phil.

Also in a year's time Durpee is going to be the WWE or US champion. He is just a born heel. It made me smile when he still had the dog with him.

Over three great heels to replace Brock.

You know what really sucks: after the trades, Smackdown still sucks. You know the roster is bad when Booker trashes it, and on the way to the ring is confronted by none other than....Bob Holly.

The whole show was weak. Smackdown could really use a guy like HHH. It would be something new and fresh. But he's fucking Stephanie so he can stay on RAW and probably take the title from Benoit for another year long title reign.

I really hate this split/really trying to compete thing. It's retarded. No one buys that the two brands are really out to get each other or out do the other. It's stupid. In fact, if anyone DID buy it, that would hurt the WWE product even more. You would have people saying, "Smackdown's better, I'll never watch RAW" or "RAW's better, I'll never watch Smackdown."

WWE's lucky that no one buys into it, and since people don't buy into it, that's an even better reason to stop the frickin split. People want to go to these shows and see ALL of their favorite wrestlers. They're not getting that with the split.

The split has seriously hurt the Smackdown roster. I couldn't help but feel bad for the guys while watching the show. There's not one big named superstar on the show. That's something that really hurts the product right there.

Well I've gone off on a rant and even deviated from topic a tad, so I'll finish off by saying this: last night's Smackdown was a piss poor show and is now evidence that this split must end.

Thank you!
When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fullfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
...At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

Dude has a point. Over the last few months many people have been screaming "Smackdown doesn't have any big names anymore! Move RVD and Booker over there!" Well, they just did, and it still feels very low on main event talent. Booker and RVD are good, but they can't make up for the loss of Brock and the transition of Angle from a wrestler to a GM. They lost two guys and got two guys to take their place, so in essence they're in the same deprived position they were a month ago.

I applaud them for quickly jumping on the problem and doing what they could to make Booker and Bradshaw main event heels, but I doubt it will be enough. Plus, I think they screwed up big time by already pitting Booker against Eddie. That was just nuts. They should have spent a month having Booker destroy midcarders.

As for Bradshaw, I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. I've never been much of a fan of his, but I loved that promo he cut last night. His new Texas tycoon character has loads of potential, and he really plays the part well. Assuming they build him up correctly, I think he'll fit in the main event scene just fine. But in the end, Big Show, Booker T, and Bradshaw are just not enough for an entire main event heel roster.

I agree with that post totally, great read.

To tell you the truth, I'm not that big of a Kurt Angle fan, I think he is the most overrated wrestler ever and I found nothing special about him but I respect him from the Olympics though, I'll give him that. Kurt Angle as GM doesn't work for me at all.

As I said, Bradshaw's new gimmick would be perfect for a GM. I was surprised by his mic work last night. Bradshaw did have a cowboy gimmick a long time ago before but this version of the cowboy gimmick is different.

Due to the fact that he is well known to be a very intelligent man as well as a frequent guest on MSNBC and other money market shows , I wasnt that suprised by his mic work. Just glad to here it in that manner. He played the know it all smart ass heel PERFECTLY. It wasnt too heely, just small jabs here and there.

I was very impressed with the new Bradshaw. Lets hope it translates during matches.

Booker T just doesnt do it for me as a heel. But he did somewhat grow stale as a face. I hope he can just be one bad dude. Ya know? Not a crybaby heel. Those are the worst. :?

It's about time......now bring on his next fued....

I love the new Bradshaw. I can even see him main eventing someday now. One of the best characters I have seen in the WWE in a long time.

THis further supports my theory that if the wresters are allowed to be mostly themselves that they will thrive if they have the talent to go along with it.
