WWE Announces the New “WWE 24/7” Television Network

World Wrestling Entertainment has unveiled a major initiative that will utilize their exclusive and enormous programming library to build a host of new mutually beneficial businesses with cable, satellite and other worldwide television partners.

“WWE is ready to move even more aggressively into the digital age by providing new services that will fit with the active lifestyles of our fans and meet their demand for new and innovative content,” said Vince McMahon at a business luncheon today hosted by he and his wife Linda McMahon. “Our fans want more WWE and classic sports entertainment programming, and we have demonstrated our track record of providing content of the highest quality and value. I’m confident we can move into this new distribution platform for television as successfully as we have for syndication, cable, broadcast and Pay-Per-View.”

From what we’re told the WWE video on demand service will feature classic programming from WWE(F), WCW, ECW, the American Wrestling Association, Jim Crockett Promotions and Smokey Mountain Wrestling. WWE owns the largest professional wrestling library in the world, with more than 75,000 hours of exclusive footage. About a third of this footage consists of finished, produced programs that have only aired once and some footage that has never been aired before.

For more information you can visit www.WWE24-7.com.

I think I read somewhere that Vince had been toying with this idea before the buy-outs of the other companies, but now with their footage also it made this venture a lot more feasable. Hopefully with that much footage it won't get stale too quickly like some of the VOD and PPV things that run for 3-4 months. If they can change the programs they show more frequently they could draw in some of the older generation who dropped wrestling when it became so mainstream.

Damn it would be nice to see some Abdulah the Butcher matches again. Heck even to see the Bushwackers one more time.

what? What the hell can they show for 24 hours a day. Theres only the wwe on t.v. and thats it. Im game for the idea but I dont like the idea of the same shit being repeated over and over again its just a waste of money.
I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?

LOL thanks for pissing on any high hopes for that channel. But then again what you said was a very sobering thought.. considering a good few years were centered around appauling gimmicks and dreadful characters.

But we can always hope that they leave that era out of their broadcasts

I think it will be fun watching all the old wrestlers and silly gimmicks. Plus it would be cool to put on when there is nothing else on.

It's about time......now bring on his next fued....
