At the moment, I'm currently re-reading 'Foley is Good'. Towards the start of the book, Mick talks of the infamous Royal Rumble 'I Quit' match with the Rock in 1999, then onto the half time match at that years Superbowl, where Mick won his Second WWF Title. It was then told to Mick that the plan for Wrestlemania was to be a Triple Threat match between Mankind, Austin, & The Rock.

Mick tells, however, how the main event was changed when one man suggested to Vince that the Main Event. This is a direct quote from the book.

I really think this is more Mr. Stephanie's doing, because Benoit's going to emberass him at Mania. Remember last year's Royal Rumble Benoit's WWE Title match with Kurt Angle was the match of the night, however Mr. Stephanie and Scott Steiner's match was the worst of the night it put shame into world title matches. HBK's probibly going along with it cause he was probibly talked into it.

I never ever doubt for a second that Jean-Paul McMahon is the reason this match has become a three-way, but I still feel that if Michaels really believed in the principle of the one-on-one, he would have stuck by it.

Then again, what would you do to be in your brand's WrestleMania 20 main event?

Principles dont mean jack, its all about main eventing 'Mania 20 at MSG.

Yeah, but the fact of the matter is, he could have been booked as Special Guest Referee or anything. It certainly would have made more sense than Austin refing Lesnar vs. Goldberg. If Michaels was ref, HHH could have claimed he was screwed out of the title in a quick count or whatever, but still would have lost to Benoit. Now, everyone knows that that aint gonna happen.
