Rep Power: 5 ![]() | A Fantastic Read! Everybody go here http://oratory.rajahwwf.com/index.php?archive=1854 and check out this article. It may seem a bit far fetched at first, but when you read on, it really turns into a great article I think. Read it and let me know what you think, I agree with the guy myself, and maybe you do to! |

Rep Power: 36 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think it's more of just a natural progression. We've been seeing characters like Austin for so long, the audience just needs a change. For instance: Throughout the history of wrestling, things were supposed to "larger than life". Wrestlers werent supposed to be "real" people. They were supposed to be superheroes and supervillains...real-life comic-book characters. Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant were bigger and stronger than anyone alive. Macho Man was more flamboyant than anyone else. Eventually, as wrestling fans wised up in the mid-90's and realized that wrestlers are normal people just playing a role, we didnt want that anymore. Austin was refreshing because he was someone we could relate to. we all hate our bosses, only Austin did something about it. Then, we all grew up and matured, and realized Austin isnt what we want to be, and isnt who we are. we are more like the Chris Benoit's of the world, where life keeps throwing us curveballs, but if we keep plugging away at it and trying to be the best we can, eventually we will get that promotion, or get that raise. In our lives, we will get that "push", not by hitting someone with a chair, or dropping someone with a stunner, but by simply doing the best we can Thats why the crows went so crazy when Eddie won the belt last Sunday. Because we all know about his drug problems. We all know about people saying he's too small, or people dont take him seriously enough. We appreciate the hard work he's done. we appreciate him overcoming obstacles and his own problems. Heres a guy that was given a second chance and made the most of it. I think its more of wrestling fans just maturing. We can appreciate the beauty of a frog-splash more than the brutality of a chair-shot, whereas a few years ago it was probably the other way around. We learn to notice the little things, the things that guys like Angle, Benoit, and Guererro do so well, things that were over-looked before. Like I said, i kinda agree with the article, i just dont think 9/11 was as much of a determining factor as the author thinks it was. | |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | aha! Yeah I see what you mean, its a little bit of both really. It is more of a natural progression throughout the wrestling life, the guy who wrote the article wasnt wrong but i can see how it can be preceived by many different paths. cheers for the explanation |
