Rep Power: 8 ![]() ![]() | What is it that attracts you to wrestling? Everyone has different reasons for watching WWE (and wrestling as a whole). Some watch it for the sheer athleticism of the in-ring competition. Perhaps you're attracted by the overall production of the product - the entrances, the lights, the far out gimmicks..? Perhaps when you started watching, you were doubtful, and got into wrestling over time.. Peer pressure, perhaps? What? I was doubtful, but I had a friend up the road who watched it. On Saturday mornings I'd go to his house and watch Smackdown.. Over time (I was very cynical at first) I got into it. I was initially attracted by the in-ring abilities of the wrestlers.. but my love for ver aspect of wrestling has bloomed.. You go. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I loved wrestling since I was a baby, guys like Hulk Hogan, Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Honky Tonk Man, Jake Roberts, The Bushwackers, LOD, Sting, The Stiners, Ric Flair and Lex Luger were so cool to me and the luv 4 it stuck. I know storyline wise the WWE sux harder than a two doller slut, but I watch wrestling for the same reason I always did. "Da dang ol' rasslin". As nieave as this sounds, I don't care about the hype or the storyline, I care about the matches and the varity of diffrent wrestlers. That's something WCW did very well with WCW Nitro, the took their proven draws and combine them with the world. From Mexico (7 zillion lucadors) to Canada (Bret Hart, Roddy Pieper, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit) to the England (Steven Regal, SCSA's trainer Chris Adams, Norman Smiley and British Bulldog) to Ireland (Dave Finlay) to Germany (Alex Wright) to Japan (Kaz Hiayshi, Yuji Nagata, Muta) and samoans as well (Meing and the Barbarian). WCW did what WWE can't do now, no matter how much of a jobber a WCW wrestler was, they would manage to get their 15 minutes of fame and the roster was so diverse, aside from rematches you can almost garantee a diffrent fight fight or fued, I loved that and I miss that. However, I still get what I want in the WWE and that's some pretty good (not great) wrestling. |

Rep Power: 19 ![]() | Yeah, but Backlash unless these guys were named Kevin Nash, Goldberg, or Hulk Hogan their 15 minutes of fame would probably be ended after three minutes so that NWO could cut a promo. Be realistic. Sure, they did have some great matches and the matches were given enough time (usually) to go on, but these wrestlers and feuds were always burried by the Main Event superstars. Their feuds were always poorly done because no energy was put behind them. The bookers, who were usually wrestlers, were only concerned with their friendships and their own wrestling status...not people at the start of the show. To answer 3D's question though, I'd have to say it depends on when you are talking about. When I first started watching wrestling it was certainly and entirely all about the gimmicks. I didn't know anything about wrestling moves nor did I really care. It was exciting to see guys like Andre, Hulk Hogan, and The Undertaker. After that I became more interested in the storyline and the feuds. As I became a fan of Bret Hart I started to better appreciate what kind of stories could be told inside the ring. Now, to be honest, I'm not even sure what it is I look for. It doesn't seem to be anything. I can't seem to find the fire that I once had. |
