As a "sports entertainer", there skills are comparable, maybe a slight edge to Bret. But let's face it, Kurt is no slouch. Then if you incorporate the "real" aspect into it, Kurt blows Bret away. theres only one thing you need to know HE'S AN OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST!!!! Thats means in 1996, he was the best wrestler in his weight class IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!! bret has no significant accomplishments in the world of "real" wrestling. plus, he looks like he's bigger and stronger than Bret. Size isnt the only thing (like Royce Gracie proved), but it is an advantage.

To be honest, i think Bret Hart vs. Brock Lesnar would be more debatable. Because Bret Hart was obviously a much better "pro wrestler" and Brock is obviously a much better "amateur wrestler", as well as being MUCH bigger and stronger, so the question would be which style would win out. Kurt is almost as good a pro wrestler as Bret was, but Kurt blows him away amateur-wise. Thats why I say its no contest in favor of Kurt

You're kidding yourself if you think wrestling in WWE means anything in the world of amateur wrestling. Kurt Angle spent his life learning how to become the best wrestler in the world. Bret Hart spent his life learning how to make fake punches look real, and deliver a body slam to someone without hurting them. There is no comparison and this shouldn't even be a part of this conversation.

Rep Power: 24 ![]() ![]() | Exactly my point. Blows me away that they are even compared on that level. On on WWE wrestling level, Bret himself said and I quote.. "As for Kurt Angle, I think he is simply the best there is ...today." In the ring at each prime, I think they are mirror images. It would be a great "WWE" match to see and it would be one of the best matches of all time. |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | kurt angle This isnt a knock on Kurt Angle, but im posting it because I found it interesting, and under the circumstances of this whole post at the moment, it seemed like the best place to put it. Its basically Kurt in a interview talking about how much Amateur wrestling has changed since he started, how all the techniques have changed and how he felt like he was out of shape and like a dinosaur? But was able to still bust some moves with these guys. Im still on the hope that Kurt will still try and re-enter the Olympics. I doubt he would win but it would be cool to see him training for it. Because you know the WWE would blatently film it all and then put it on his next DVD. Q3: What was your workout like with the wrestlers? KURT ANGLE: It was good. You know I'm in no shape to be out there competing against these high-caliber Olympians. It was fun to go out there after six years of being laid off, not wrestling at all, it was fun just to get in there and roll around with the Olympic athletes. It's amazing how much further they've progressed with their technique. It's completely changed since I was there. It continuously evolves. I can remember when I first started in freestyle in 1988 to eight years later in 1996, the whole technique evolved and changed. It's changed even more now. You feel like almost like a fossil … a dinosaur … you go in there, you're doing these old techniques and they're like, "What the hell are you doing?" When you are away from it for a long time and these other athletes are changing with the times, if you bring these old techniques in sometimes it becomes highly impactful because their not use to defending a technique like that, because they've never seen it. So I was able to get my little share of offensive moves in because of that, so it was fun and it was also fun to learn new techniques. // Edited to add in the URL as there were loads of cool questions. // Its the official olympic wrestling website I think? http://www.usolympicteam.com/10_ques...wrestling.html |
