DX Reunion? - (or is it Redo)

I know, this topic sounds like one of those fake news links you see, but my idea is not what you think. Here me out:

Anyone else think they were going to redo Dx over again at the end of Raw with HBK and Jericho, and Trish in the Chyna role? I thought of it for a second and it just seemed like a great idea.

I know what you are thinking too, rehashing ideas have bombed for WWE in the past few years, whether its been the nWo return, Piper, Hogan, Sable, LOD. However these are the reasons I think a new DX would be a great idea:

Shawn's still got it- Did anyone else see the Showstoppa return at the Survivor Series? Shawn was without a doubt in my mind the best part of the whole PPV. Reading the back of his t-shirt "The Legend Lives On", I thought it sure in hell does! Plus, he's great at being the show stealer AND putting over talent.

DX was hilarious- The DX legacy takes some of the top spots for funniest moments in the WWE. And humour is something that has been lacking lately.

DX vs Evolution- Big potential for a great fued, and even if it flops it can take attention from HHH off of the World Title for a while.

A shot in the arm of Jericho's career- Jericho in my mind is so close to being the top guy, but there is just something lacking. Maybe a run with Shawn as his partner. Look what it did for HHH.

Basically, I think if done right, it could really be fun and unpredictable. Maybe even call it something besides DX, but still have that in your face, out of control attitude that made DX legendary.

DX ultimately worked because HBK and HHH were great on the stick. Well Jericho is twice the man HHH is on the microphone and HBK definitely still has it. Both are top-notch wrestlers.

I think it'd be a great idea, but the problem is that if WWE brought back DX, with the name, music and everything else, I think it would leave the issue of HBK and Jericho having to walk in the shoes of one of the most successful stables of all time during a period where wrestling was at its peak. Then again, if they pick a new name and gimmick for the stable, it might be written off as a poor's man DX. On one hand they can cultivate the nostalgia and history of DX while having to live up to its precedents, while on another they'd have to start fresh and live in the shadow of "well it's just DX2003".

I'd love to see it happen, I just hope it could succeed.

I think DX was long enough ago that a mini stable including Jericho, Micheals, and Trish wouldn't be seen as a rehash of the idea. Look at evolution. They ARE the four hourseman, but except for a couple remarks when they first formed, nobody makes the comparison anymore. Trish/Micheals/Jericho would bear a much smaller resemblance to DX so I say go for it!
