Hi guys,

I've noticed over the last few months that the Forum hasn't been generating the sort of traffic that it used to. I'm sure that there are several reasons for this, and while a few users have chosen to point the blame at Miakal, I feel that he's done a good job as Forum Administrator. Every time there's been a problem or an issue, he's been on it quickly, something I've appreciated given my limited time.

While it's true that a few people have left the Forum due to Miakal's authority, I'm of the opinion that there are other more significant factors. Miakal believes that all the downtime that the site experienced before the server transfer was a big reason for the drop in traffic, and I think that's a valid point. He also thinks that the traditionally cyclical nature of the wrestling business is another reason (as the industry is currently on the downswing) but I don't consider that to be an overly significant factor, as the site has done just as well overall so far this year as it did three or four years ago.

What I'm wondering from you guys is, what sorts of things can be done to help bring people back to the Forum? What do you think would make it better?

I've had a few people send me messages saying that I should post more often on the Forum, and a couple people said that I'm believed to be "indifferent" about the board. To an extent I suppose that's true; I check the Forum every day to see how traffic is and to make sure people are behaving themselves, but I typically don't stick around that long. I'll try to start posting more often. But I'm not what you'd call a "topic starter" by nature, so I'd prefer to answer questions and add my two cents to topics started by others. If you post something directed at me, I'll try to always respond.

I personally believe that the forum may have seen some people leave because they just believe that the server will dump out again.

If I were to grade Miakal I would give him an A. I dont see any issues with him at all.

And as far as the wrestling being cyclical <---spelling I think that has nothing to do with it at all. For the most part not many of the posts are in "general discussion" or others but not wrestling.


The only people that bitch about the job he is doing are the ones that just like to bitch.

Firstly for anyone to blame Miakal for the deserters is ridiculous. Miakal does a fine job of running the forum, even to the extent of bending over backwards for some, only to be pissed on by the same person at a later date.

People have mainly left because of some of the other pathetic little pricks that post on this board.. while others have left because they didnt like a certain aspect of the forum and felt that it should accomodate only them and not everyone else.

When Miakal removes things and tries to make a more harmonious environment, people go into bitch mode for some reason, and those bitches have a tendancy to drive people away too.

One of the main reasons for the exodus was infact the constant trouble with the boards. There were some nice discussions and topics that went down the pan after the apparently backed up board went down the tubes. Its hard work coming back to an empty forum and trying to get it active again.

Again, as you pointed out JV. Not many people seem to actually like wrestling these days, so therefore have no desire to visit a forum.

Forgive my ignorance JV.. but how well signposted is this forum on your main site? Because I feel that the only thing that can improve this board is by having more people frequenting it.

I'm going to add a strange theory that might account for some of some of the loss in traffic, rather than saying something like technical problems, or blaming Miakal.

Over the past few months, the WWE product has reached new realms of shittyness (with a few brief exeptions), and more and more people are turning off, so less people have last nights show to discuss, or who will be changing shows. As WWE is the main federation right now, the casual fans are leaving more, leaving us die-hards to the product, and more to talk about. This may account for some of the loss of traffic.

As for the forum, I've always liked it, so I don't know about adding things.

I think for the most part its simple. This place has went to hell, All goes on around here is personal fighting,name calling and other useless crap. That there will drive anyone who just wants to read about real wrestling stuff, or debate a wrestling matter in a Mature nature. Something that is almost impossible to do here lately. Thats the reason i dont post here much anymore.

Along with, All this "Gay" crap that has been going around here, Not a insult im been serious, People act(i think its acting, i hope) as if there gay, and wanna do things with other guys on Here. Another words, Acting as if there 12 years old. That kinda stuff should NOT be allowed on here, Warning and then a ban if it doesnt stop. Same goes for the personal Attacks. I can remember back when i first started coming here and reading this site and forum before i started posting. This was a very nice place to read, Now its complete crap, And im talking about the forum not the site.

I feel Miakal does a fine job, I think Biff and others way back did better in a more Mature fashion, But Miakal doesnt do bad.

I personal feel the rules need to be alot tighter and ACTUALLY Followered though with, For everyone. Including the Admins and there friends.

I vote, Make me an Admin.I got the time, and i would love to help get this place back to what it once was, and can be again.

I see your point about bashing each other and people being nasty is a little out of hand. But to be honest with ya. You almost develop some strange friendships and not enemies but minor foes just because of difference of opinion. I see nothing wrong with that. Its what makes the world go round. Basically toughen up a little to all of us. This was not directly pointed at ECS.


Miakal and JV should be the only people that are admins. There is no need to have more than 2. If Miakal feels the need to leave the site or pass the torch, then he should recommend someone to JV and from there JV alone picks the new Admin. Too many cooks in the kitchen is un-necessary.

To break it down. most people would really enjoy the power and authority that an Admin has but when Miakal is doing a very good job there is no need for a mutiny.

Miakal is doing a fine job, But, Things arent exactly Going so great now, in terms of many people posting here. When u get more people posting here he will need some help, Anyone would. I would make a great Admin, Seriously. Anyhow back to the matter at hand.

Too many cooks in the kitchen is unnecessary? That isnt true, It takes A good 3-4 people to pull off a good well ran bussiness. U have your "Slaves", Prep cooks, and cooks. Along with a few others just to keep things going smooth. 1 cook cant produce meals for 300 people in 1 night, And do every meal to his best. Sorry it just isnt gonna happen.

Now, As i said, Miakal could use someone to help him out, Someone who can fill in for him as the main Admin when he isnt gonna be able to, And someone to help him while hes here, to keep EVERYONE in line. I dont think the second Admin should be able to ban, But he should have the right to Warn, And if that doesnt help he reports to Miakal and He warns one last time, and then a ban. It would help miakal out ALOT. And get this place in order.

You may say, Well a second man isnt needed right now, because of such a short # of people here. Right, And wrong. Right night Miakal may not need the help, But the whole point is to get more people here, A second guy could help miakal get this place in order and attrat more poeple, It would also bring everyone to see the 3 who run the forum, And not have the "Helper" join in afterwards. Plus it would give the "Helper" a bit of time to Adjust to Admining,Before more people got here. To me, Its a win win Game.

ECS as admin scares me more than HHH/Stephanie's offspring.

I also suggest new mods. No offense to any of the mods here but with all this spamming and useless posting going on not to consider the lack of posts I think they should be held responisble just as much as anyone else.

Get some new mods who actually care and want to post more and get things going, someone like Dave Da Game.
