ost_uid0]OFFICIAL WRESTLING CHANNEL INFO
A lot of people keep asking the same questions over & over, so I thought I'd make some information available:
Anything that I have left out is either confidential, still being decided, or unknown at this point.
1) The Wrestling Channel will launch in Mid-March 2004 (as already stated on the homepage).
2) It is being run by a London based TV company, with all production offices in Dublin. There are NO jobs available, so please stop sending me PM's.
3) We hope to show 25 hours of NEW material each week, in addition to repeats - so you won't miss a thing!
4) It will ONLY be available to SKY Digital viewers and is Free To Air.
5) We aim to bring you the best wrestling form around the world - past and present. Anything that is available (and good) will be shown. This does not include any of the WWE owned libraries, which currently consists of: WWE, WCW, ECW, OVW, SMW, AWA and Stampede. We aim to bring you EVERYTHING else.
6) We DO intend on starting a weekly news show with the week in review/preview, special guests and speakers, and competitions and phone-ins. That's all the information we can give you at present.
7) The FRIENDLY TV test runs consist of 10 hours of new material in total (for those of you who keep asking), and will run for the month of December. Please show your support and watch as much as possible.
8) We DO intend on showing ALL worthwhile previous shows (in full) from the last few years, so you won't miss out on any action.
9) It will NOT be a subscription channel.
10) The way the programming will be shown is as follows: If "Promotion X" does 1 show every month that runs for 3hrs+, we will split it into 4x45min shows over 4 weeks. That way, you will have a weekly dose of each fed.
11) Programming will not be censored or cut WHERE POSSIBLE - it will just be on after the watershed. Daytime repeats will be censored.
12) There are no plans to show any MMA. However, that could always be a possibility somewhere down the line.
13) The name of the channel is "The Wrestling Channel", not the "Combat Channel".
14) It will not be 24 hours. It will be minimum 8hrs per day.
15) It will be on the "Sports" EPG.
16) There will not be English commentary on the Japanese and Mexican tapes. There would be no way of achieving this without lowering the in-ring and crowd noise, thus killing the atmosphere, as the Japanese commentary is embedded onto the tape and cannot be removed.
But people still need to know what's going on, right? We decided that the best thing to do is put English narration before each match, telling people about who the wrestlers are, and a background of any running storylines or fueds.
17) This is not a low budget channel, and will look as professional as any other top channel on air today. All content will have to meet certain production quality standards.
18) We will NEVER show or endorse Backyard Wrestling.
19) A "specific" list of programme providers cannot be released at this time.
20) We know wrestling, and we will not make a mess out of this channel. DON'T WORRY - Just Spread The Word, and WATCH IT!
Thank You.
