Debut on Velocity, against Funaki. Funaki wins cleanly. Handshake afterwards.

The following Smackdown: Matt S. looks for Funaki. They agree to match.

Later on in the show, Matt S. passes Paul Heyman, who asks Matt where he's going. Matt replies that he's off to see Vince about a match with Funaki. Heyman gets all bitchy that Matt didn't ask him first and foremost, and as a punishment, he's going to love seeing Matt S. being torn limb from limb by...Brock Lesnar! Matt S. looks rattled, but says that if Paul Heyman is so confident, why not make the match for the title? Heyman laughs, and accepts, as it's just going to give Brock more motivation.

Later in the show, "The Small Print" by Muse hits, and Matt S. walks down to the ring, looking very nervous.

The match starts, and it all looks like your average squash, with Paul Heyman watching and laughing on the rampway. Brock lifts Matt up for the F5, but Matt rolls out of the back and hits a modified neckbreaker on the way. Matt S. knocks down Brock with a couple of clotheslines, and hits the Matt-om bomb. Cover, and even Michael Cole is his usual "and will this be enough" sort of way before the pinned guy kicks out, but the 3 goes down! Tazz and Cole are speechless, as Brock is a huge heel, and it'd be the biggest title upset in WWE history, the crowd would probably love it, and Matty S would become a superstar.

Next week, backstage staff enter the locker room of Matt and tell him that Brock is looking for him. Matt looks scared.

Matt comes out later and says that he realises that with this title, he's a marked man. He realises that that win was probably the biggest fluke he'll ever pull off, so he needs someone to help him grow in stature - to fend off the challengers that will no doubt have to face. And that man? Brock Lesnar! You see, tonight, Brock will go for the North American title, and this partnership will bring Smackdowns power to Brock and Matt - and there's nobody who can stop us! Commence heel turn.
