In the last minute of the match when angle Picks him off the mat you see this massive pool of blood that has pooled from his Head.. Brilliant!

Yeah, but he also usually got the Main Event when he was doing this.
Considering the guy wrestles once or twice a year, giving him the main event is a pretty shotty thing. Also, unlike the rest of the roster he doesn't have to wrestle the next night or even the next week. When you only do ONE match every six months or so, it's not difficult to take a huge bump and sit in your million dollar home for a few weeks to heal yourself up.
A couple things...
1) Shane should've never been in the Main Event
2) He should've been used strictly to put people over
This is part of the reason WWE is hurting so much now. They spent time on people like Shane, who was not a wrestler and who could not advance anyone, when they should've put stock in, gee, you know, the WRESTLERS.
Putting Shane in matches was a short term solution to spike the ratings. Unfortunately, WWE wasn't smart enough to consider the future and what they would do for future Main Events.
The guy wrestles once or twice a year and you all cream over him for taking such hard bumps. But no other wrestler has that same luxury (plus, would never get the main event).
