New Website Features - Or Thoughts on Improving Current Ones

The redesign for the soon-to-be-rebranded JimmyVan.com is currently in the database building stages. Once that's complete, the image design and page design work will get under way. So I'm interested in your thoughts on new features that you think would be popular, as well as suggestions on how to improve current features.

I've decided to cut back on the interactive games, since I honestly don't have much time to update them anyway. I may recruit some new people to choose the winners in the "Picture This!" game since that was always popular and didn't require too much time to update (if anybody on the Forum is interested in handling that game, send me an e-mail). I may also bring back Acricanrana! since again, it was a relatively popular feature that didn't require too much updating time.

I'm also going to devote more time to rebuilding the articles page, and will be recruiting some new writers. Again, if anybody is interested in contributing, send me an e-mail, or post a reply here on the Forum. With respect to column writers, I'm looking for people with a good ability to write (so that I don't have to edit the hell out of your work), with good wrestling knowledge, and with enough work ethic to produce a column at least bi-weekly.

In recent months, this site has become more "literature-based" and less news-based. I still cover the big news items, but I've found that my reviews, columns and "Ask JV" pieces attract more hits than virtually anything else on the site aside from the Forum, which also draws some strong traffic (thanks to Miakal and the boys for that). So I'm going to try to devote the most time to what works. But if you have ideas for new features that you think will also be popular, or if you know of ways to make existing features more popular, I'd love to hear them.

JV - I enjoy how you post occasional news items on the front page, along with your reviews, because you do so when they are fact (i.e., Hogan leaving, etc.) This is a breath of fresh air from having to sift through newsboards that are full of "GOLDBERG IS HAVING HHH'S BABY - CLICK HERE FOR NUDE PIX OF LINDA MCMAHON!" stuff. So I like the idea of focusing more on reviews and less on news (do keep up the results posts, though).

One suggestion would be to possibly promote the e-fed more, since it could definitely use some more exposure. Outside of that, keep it up, looking forward to the new layout.

Well, I would like to do a column here, (Wrestling Exposed sucked. You had no clue how you were doing, and I asked once, they never replied, there was no message board, and no page counter) because I'm a fan of the site.

And I reckon I can write things in my own entertaining style that consists of scraps of humour bundled together to create one big joke.

Im not sure how you go about backing up the data but hopefully you or the ever so fancy Miakal could.

Actually now that this board is running properly (and the registered member count is back over 200) I think we'll stick with it. The colour scheme may change, as will the logo, but we might as well stick with the actual board.

JV - I've been a daily visitor to the site from the time it was jimmyvan.com. Just have to say that the one thing above all else that keeps me coming back is to check up on your updates & reviews. Your commentary on the happenings within the WWE are just enhanced by your actual experience within the wrestling business. I'm not posting this to make it sound like I'm trying to join your "Kiss My Ass Club" but I just have to say that despite the lack of updates you've done recently (and understandably) I keep checking back. You've got a great talent & a great insight man...it's a shame that WWE has not scooped you. Seriously.

I know what initially drew me to KYN (then JimmyVan.com) was JV's reviews and news & notes sections. When those got cut back, I looked to the News and Rumors board. When those got cut back, I found my niche in the Open Forum.

So, I guess I'd have to say, if anything, more JV opinion stuff. You've got a great knowledge of the business and are a great writer to boot.

Also, if you're still looking for columnists, I'd be interested in finding out more about it.
