ECW : Extreme...err.. no.. err.. WTF is this crap?

Ok, so I downloaded about a month's worth of ECW programming. Really, the shows aren't that bad.. The roster is weak as hell but the shows actually make sense. I'm not sure how much Heyman is involved but it definitely looks like the show is coming along nicely from a storyline standpoint...

However, I don't know what the hell it's supposed to be. It's not extreme, they barely have "extreme" matches. It's not a wrestling alternative.

The only thing that's different is the length and the somewhat tolerable writing.

I don't see where it's going though. It's not an alternative really.. like I stated before. Vince doesn't want hardcore matches. The roster is small as hell.

What exactly is the goal here?

Whenever Vince says he's going to run WCW or ECW or whatever, you just know it's never ultimately going to work.

The reason being that Vince likes wrestling done in his WWE style. With his style of performers.

ECW may have a chance (as would WCW have done) if it was a genuine alternative and produced matches unlike WWE style matches. But it hasn't because it screams when you're watching it "I AM A WWE SHOW BUT I'M NOT THE IMPORTANT SHOW, RAW, SO THERES NOTHING TO SEE HERE!!"

Don't you just feel bad for RVD? Sure he was caught with weed but to me it's not really a big deal. I know WWE had no choice but to take the titles from him, but knowing them, he was probably do to job soon anyway..

I just feel bad because I really think the guy could have been an all-time great but he's been screwed with so much over the years, and now he thinks he's going to go back to the hardcore style that he loves.. him and Heyman and Dreamer are going to try and re-create what they did in Philly so many years prior..

and once again, he's shit on. I wish he'd just retire. He saved his money I think.. He seems like a happy guy otherwise..

Just give it up Rob. Nothing else to do here.

Booker T is another one. So talented, but they never wanted to do anything with him until now when it's too meaningless and too late.

I dunno. I really like ECW. Sure its a slightly different strain of Raw. But its still something new, something fresh. Its good to see guys like CM Punk, Big Show, RVD, Sabu, kevin Thorn and co doing something and attempting to build some from the ground up. At the end of the day, i think it'll be a lot like SD as in, it'll be a development grounds for Monday night Raw, and although it may not live up to the style and legacy of the original ECW, i think its an enjoyable programme (Strip Poker episode withstanding) nonetheless.
