Show opens with a backsatge Heyamn promo putting over RVD as a fighting champion. Big show interupts and demands a title shot tonight.
Kelly's expose is up next. Having problems with these sections now, fair enough if you wanna build the angle rather than have it play out in 2 weeks, but how about some different music? A new set of moves? Send her pole dancing for a week so she learns her "craft" for fucks sake.
Usual Knox intertuption and then our first match Vs Guido. Fake EC-Dub fans chant you can't wrestle within 30 secs. I say fake because how can any fan make up their mind on Knox having seen so little of him. Decent little 5 min TV match (needed more time) with Knox concentrating on lots of power offence and Guido looking to attack Knox's legs. Knox remembered to sell the leg at the end (hard to forget in 3 mins really) and leaving.
Re-cap of RVD dropping belt.
Backstage promo with Heyman and RVD. RVD wants the match with Show to keep up his fighting champion thing. Heyman tries to talk him out of it and is subdued. RVD says Paul can make the match or he will just go to the ring and do it himself.
Test Vignette.
Some bald meathead vicar jumps the rail to condemn ECW for it's sex, voilence and language. Lets everyone knows they're sinners. Must be hard to get a christening in his parish as he looks like when he's not in the vestment he's pressing 300lbs. On the plus side his sermons must be good because his promo seems pretty smooth. Turns out he isnt really a man of the cloth, just uses the collar to express his feelings (I didnt know Dak was that stocky). Freakin' Dak "leaves" back into the his seat at ringside.
Sandman's crap music hits. Hits ring then four corners, then stands on guardrail and points out Freakin' Dak with the cane. Pulls him back over the rail and beats him. The guy cut a pretty good promo and I'm hoping this may be a new character and not just another throwaway Sandman segment.
Backstage promo RVD asks Show if he's challenging him. Show says yes and RVD says he likes that before hitting Show with a big-time slap. Show looks pissed then smiles.
Ads.
Backstage again with RVD and Heyman, RVD explains he has to take on Show to proves he's the best, thats what ECW is about. Paul seems to come round to the idea. Match is on.
Test comes out in ring gear. He has been taking his vitamins and saying his prayers by the look of things. Terrible reaction from the crowd (in that there was no reaction, mind you that could be a good thing that they havn't made up their minds early for once). Opponent Al Snow (w/head), lacklustre response to that too, mind you the crowd have had 5 mins in-ring action over 30 mins so far so they're bound to be flat for a Snow/Test confrontation. "You take steroids" chant early, personally I think Al looks a little soft round the belly! Test starts out with intense brawling. Test dominates and puts Al away with a firemans carry into a swinging neckbreaker, he's been using the F5 abroad and this was very much like it except he seemed to spin around himself. There's not much to go on in a match like this but Test's intensity was good and there were no botches. Finishes off with Test converting head for a point into the crowd.
Big Sabu Vignette. Hmmmm?
Nice CM Punk backstage promo. Like an introduction.
Next up main event. Heat for Show's entrance. Pretty much standard fare for a big-man small-man match for first 7-8. Small hope spots here and there. Boring chants from the crowd. Next 5 are about RVD's resilience and Show's frustration of not getting the pin after big moves. After RVD kicks out of a choke-slam on 2 Big Show destroys ref and throws him from the ring. RVD gets upper hand on Show smashing him with a chair as he tried to set RVD up for a powerbomb. RVD then hits the van-daminator followed by the 5 star. Heyman comes out to make the count and it's 1-2 no kick-out but Heyman does'nt hit three. RVD looks at him and he smiles and gets out of the ring. RVD gets up to confront him and as he argues Show gets up and gets the chair. RVD turns into the chair-shot then Heyman gets in the ring and directs Show to Choke-Slam Rob onto the Chair. Pin and Heyman makes the count 1-2-3! Obvious screw-job unfolds, Vince gets his man with the belt and Heyman becomes the new Eric Bischoff into the mix. Trash shower hits the ring. Heyman took a good bean off a full drinks cup whilst celebrating with Show.
K Jays thoughts:
Pros : Knox, good wrestler in the making here in my opinion and overall that was the goal of the new ECW, to devolp talent whilst getting over the ECW brand.
Test : A lot like Haas when he made his comeback on Raw. Test seems to have a new intensity and be able to put over an emotion he never seemed to be able to do before. Will pass judgement on the full package once he's gone over 10 mins in a match tho.
Freakin' Dak (his name until someone tells me who he was) : Nice promo, got the "ECW Look" about him and ECW needs heels fast.
Heyman : Turned heel effortlessly, the mad professor at his best again.
CM Punk : is coming, eventually.
Cons : Big Show as champ : Dammit why did both RVD and Sabu have to be in that car. Logically there is no-one else who could carry the belt now unfortunatley. At least the guy that takes it off him will get a big rub from it.
New School EC-Dub fans : You can't wrestle chant for Mike Knox, the guys only had 7 mins ring-time overall, give him a chance, fair enough "you suck dick" but lets not bury guys before they've shown us who they are.
Kelly : Teach her to fucking dance please! And just change it up a bit week on week.
Overall   1/2 out of
Why now Rob? Why get caught now?
