Should WWE push Santino Marella to main event status?
First and foremost this thread is no joke and I believe WWE should push Santino to main event status.
Right now WWE are seriously dropping the ball with him. He is arguably the most entertaining WWE superstar. His talent is being wasted as a jobber.
For Santiino to get the IC title on his debut, WWE must have seen something special in him.
Remember Santino's feud with Stone Cold and his heel IC title runs? They were damn enjoyable. If I was a booker I would have given Santino a mega push during his IC title run with the Honky Tonk meter. He could be this this eras goofy Kurt Angle from 2000.
WWE can still push him they just have to find a way to instantly build up his credibility and add a more serious side to his character without taking out too much of the comedic side. Him reaching main event level would have to happen sometime next year.
Imagine him feuding with DX, Undertaker, John Cena etc.
If the likes of Cody and Ted get a push why not Santino?

Santino Is just not a believable main eventer at this stage. Maybe if they had him come in under that Russian gimmick he used in OVW & made him seem like a credible wrestler than MAYBE. But while he's doing comedy no. It just wouldn't work IMO. He's better off just sticking to comedy promos at this stage in his career.
& The thought of Santino having a serious feud with someone like Taker while under his current gimmick makes me cringe tbh.

I know what you mean but two years ago WWE pulled off an entertaining feud between Santino and Austin. If Santino can feud with STONE COLD why not Taker as well.

That was pretty much just a filler comedy feud though. To be a main eventer you need to be able to bring intesity & passion into a feud which Santino just can't do.

We don't know whether Santino could do it or not because he hasn't been put in that sort of feud

Ditch the uni-brow and start the uprising. The guy is loaded with charisma and is a generally funny guy. I think if you make him humorous without coming off as a total joke he would be a good person to have in the main event scene. Even if just to freshen it up a bit. Although I think he would be more passable as a main eventer on SmackDown! with guys like Jericho, Punk, and Rey.

& with the current gimmick we will never know. I agree if they made him look somewhat credible & changed up his gimmick then maybe he could be considered a main eventer but there is no way he could make him look credible if they keep his with his current gimmick.

Santino's act grew stale about 6 months ago. He is probably one of the least entertaining guys now.

By "fued" you mean the two weeks they spent promoting Austin's movie which lead to Austin getting a nostalgia pop by squashing Santino?
Maybe if they sent him back to FCW and gave him a gimmick revamp, but the last thing of note he did was win Miss. Wrestlemania as a cross-dresser. There are probably 20 guys better for the push than him.

We are all aware of WWE's problems with making new main event stars. The problem a lot of people on forums have is the fact that they want everyone to be pushed.
I'd rather see Dibiase, Rhodes, Kofi, Morrison, Swagger, MVP, Henry, Ziggler, Miz, Morrison, or Big Show pushed into a main event spot before Santino. He has talent, but there is no room in the main event scene to really secure him a spot. And even if they were going to give him a main event spot they would drop the ball on that easily.
He should maintain his role as a comedic persona. Even if it has become a bit stale, they need to get creative with him. Logically though Santino will not be going to the main event.
