If a Non-World Champion had to Main Event Mania, who would you choose?
Hypothetical situation. Each brand has from now until WrestleMania to build up a challenger to their respective "World" championship. The only catch is that that person must have never won a World Championship.
In this case, who would you give the nod to?
Raw
Raw has three guys that stand out to me at the moment. Given they have roughly five months to get the guy over enough if it were a face champion defending at Mania (likely Cena) I'd give the nod to Swagger with his winning streak gimmick. If Swagger's streak were to progress from quick job matches, all the way up to defeating main eventers decisively his match with Cena could get decent hype.
If it were to be a face, you've gotta go with Ted Dibiase. This obviously is only if Orton were the one holding the belt. They have a ready made feud, and were involved in one of the best segments of the decade during their one on one match a week or so ago.
ECW
I'd give the nod to Zack Ryder. Despite him being a heel, there's something intriguing about him constantly coming closer and closer to beating Christian only to some how lose. This pattern continuing only to end at Mania with Ryder winning the belt would be nice.
Smackdown
Smackdown's roster lacks the midcard depth of Raw's. You have Morrison, Ziggler, Knox, Finlay, Fatt Hardy, R-Truth, and Drew McIntyre.
None of these guys are even remotely close to being ready for such a push, but as the thread title dictates I am forced to decide. In this case I'd go with Dolph Ziggler as out of the younger guys listed he has a much larger upside.
_______
I understand this is a bit of a farfetched thread. Considering the kicking and screaming for WWE to push fresh Main Events, it could put things into perspective.
Re: If a Non-World Champion had to Main Event Mania, who would you choose?
RAW:
Because of Swagger's size mainly, I believe he would require the least effort to make credible. That is why I can't believe they wern't building him up while Cena/Orton was in progress, because he could be at the required level of credibility to challenge Cena by now. Maybe they really are holding off until Wrestlemania? Ok they're not. Anyway I think Swagger has the best combination of size, talent and charisma and I'd push him over the others. I like Miz, Dibiase and others but it's too soon.
Like you, I'd have to go with Dibiase if it were to be a face. There isn't really any alternative.
Smackdown:
I really like Ziggler don't get me wrong, but I think it would be far too soon for him. I appreciate that seeing as we are forced to decide on a new guy to main event Mania, it's going to be too soon for a lot of them in an ideal world, but Ziggler has lost 4 IC title matches in a row and seems a long way off taking that next step. As much as I criticise him, and as much as he is overrated by a lot of people, I'd say John Morrison is the only logical choice for Smackdown, assuming I can choose either a face or heel. If a heel is required, by all means Ziggler.
ECW:
Paul Burchill. I just don't like Ryder at all.

Re: If a Non-World Champion had to Main Event Mania, who would you choose?
Raw: Swagger.
Didn't really like the dude when he first came out but since he's moved to Raw he's really grown on me. Dude's got the size, in ring ability & is improving on the mic. Can't really see a downside from putting him in the main event of Mania really. Dibiase as well is vastly improving & wouldn't go a miss.
Smackdown : Morrison
It was a battle between him & Ziggler really but in the end i would have to with Morrison based on the fact that at this point in his career he more credible as a main eventer than Ziggler is. It's way to early to even consider Ziggler being the in the main event of Mania.
ECW: William Regal
I actually thought someone would of mentioned him before me. He's easily one of the most credible guys on the ECW roster who hasn't held the belt before.

RAW: Kofi Kingston. Randy Orton would be the champion and Kofi would be the challenger, winning the elimination chamber to get the the title shot. Kofi is hella talented and proved himself as a future maineventer last week, so why not? He'd lose.
Smackdown: Dolph Ziggler. He's got the look and the talent. I'd plug him in against Undertaker, but of course he'd lose.

I think Kofi has potential to be the next major face. With that said, unless faces somehow catch fire ALA Batista, they should be pushed gradually. Otherwise you risk the fans resenting them. (No EWR)
With that in mind, I'd love for Kofi to be given a big match at this years Mania but I wouldn't risk forcing him into the World Title slot unless the time was right. I suppose that contradicts this threads premise as most guys chosen for the most part would be forced into the slot. But I feel heels are more ready to recover from that then faces.
