View Poll Results: MORRISON MEGA PUSH: YOU BEHIND IT?
Simple concept as you've no doubt gathered from the title, unless you're a total tard. In which case leave the thread now. I give a booking decision, upcoming push, PPV concept or whatever, and you tell me whether you are behind it or not, giving reasons for your answers rather than spamming.
This first edition deals with the upcoming Morrison push, or you could say, the Morrison push which has already been in progress for some time. He's been going over former (and even current) World Champions and generally been booked as a threat to anybody. He has a DVD coming out which surely signals the start of a major push towards main event. A lot of people have bemoaned the WWE's inability to push their midcarders and create new stars, but Morrison has been getting a lot of hate as well as love on the internet, so this could be an interesting one. The big question of course is:
Are you behind a Morrison main event push?
As said, please give reasons. You may want Morrison pushed because you like the guy, or it may just be because you want to see anybody pushed as long as they are something new. Similarly there are a ton of possible reasons for not wanting a Morrison push, so tell me why you feel this way.
Go!~

Re: Are You Behind It? vol 1: The Morrison Mega Push
No, pushing Morrison as anything more then a top tag team guy or a high midcarder is absolutely criminal.
He's not nearly good enough in the ring to justify being a Main Eventer with his lack of mic skills. He's not nearly as over as a guy in his position should be right now, and only really started getting over thanks to Rey Mysterio. Prior to that, despite him beating the most hated guy on Smackdown at the time he always got awkward reactions.
He lacks the ability to really connect with the crowd. He's only in the position he's in right now because aside from breaking up Cryme Tyme and giving JTG the nod or turning somebody there are no young faces on Smackdown at the moment that can even remotely be considered for a push.
Re: Are You Behind It? vol 1: The Morrison Mega Push
While I feel he's hardly ready for a push of this magnitude, I do think a mid card/upper mid card title push works.. just as long as he doesn't get to a World title too soon. Plus it's nice seeing some freshness with him mixing it up with top guys.
So I guess I'm behind it so long as it doesn't get too big.

Re: Are You Behind It? vol 1: The Morrison Mega Push
Im behind it but his Mic skills need improving and i feel he needs a new finisher. Starship pain is impressive but it doesnt look like it hurts the opponent so much to a stage where he wont kick out.

That, plus he obvious has positive attributes as far as WWE are concerned. In truth, not that many wrestlers are mega over now, mainly because WWE completely fail at character development and making lower/midcard guys seem a big deal. Morrison does get some good reactions, even if he isn't as over as they may have hoped. Considering he has zero personality, I think he's pretty popular. He has a very marketable look and gimmick, his look probably being the main reason he is getting pushed. His ring skills, while not to everybody's tastes, go down well with most casual fans. As much as we may notice his inability to fill time without restholds, his reliance on spots, his lack of intensity etc, a lot of fans just see him execute these flashy moves and think he's awesome. I can see how some would consider him exciting to watch.
But yeah I agree that he's not a good wrestler, he's not got a personality, and he's not over enough to justify a megapush.

Well I was kinda asking if you'd be behind a really big push lol. I don't consider an IC title reign that goes nowhere a "mega push". This is basically about whether you'd like to see John Morrison with the World Heavyweight Title within the next 6 months or so. I don't mind his push at the moment and even though I'm hardly a fan, I think it has been booked fairly well. That said, I really wouldn't want to see a guy like Morrison with the World Heavyweight Title. I'm all for fresh main eventers, but he simply isn't good enough to carry a brand in my view. That, and Smackdown isn't nearly as badly in need of new blood as RAW is. If he was getting pushed on RAW, I would be slightly more in favour of it.
Im behind it but his Mic skills need improving and i feel he needs a new finisher. Starship pain is impressive but it doesnt look like it hurts the opponent so much to a stage where he wont kick out.
Very true, especially when you consider that if he is going to be a top star in the company, he is going to be facing guys like Batista, Undertaker, Cena etc eventually. I don't think Starship Pain could believably put down guys like that for 3.

Re: Are You Behind It? vol 1: The Morrison Mega Push
Tommy you put way to much effort into this. Not trolling, or trying to be a dick, I admire your dedication...
Anyway why not? People always want 'new stars'. Soon as they get them they then suck. Its all in black and white in Shawn Michels book. Anyway the guy is the most elite athlete in wrestling. I know people always claim Benjimen, but honestly there is no comparison.
Why not push a guy with the right look, awesome athletic ability, who is young, has longevity and who the crowd is getting behind. Seems sensible to me.
Re: Are You Behind It? vol 1: The Morrison Mega Push
No: He doesn't have the talent to be a main event level performer and doesn't have the promo ability or charisma to compensate. There are other guys who can be pushed as a top level face that are a lot better than him.
I know, broken record.

Re: Are You Behind It? vol 1: The Morrison Mega Push
Yeah but look at the fucking guy! Look at the stuff he can do! He's never going to get better wollowing in the mid card. It maybe unconventional but he can improve on his push to the top. And others are getting a rub from him too. Ziggler has had way more exposure being part of his push.
The fact is you have a guy with awesome athletisism, who has a champions look. He has all the tools and the push has made him better. Who is more deserving or has a greater potential at this time? This is the right moment for Morrison, he has waited long enough.
For once cant people just be grateful they are getting what they always claim to want.
Re: Are You Behind It? vol 1: The Morrison Mega Push
Yeah and thats worked well in the past. They get better and the WWE stop giving a shit by the time they have. Then they stop giving a shit and you have an endless cycle of wrestlers who could have been great but werent.
