It is pretty obvious that Triple H will have a big say in the direction of WWE's product when Vince leaves/dies (and some would argue he does already), but my question is, what would you think about Triple H being in a position to book WWE without actually wrestling himself? I think it's pretty obvious not many people would want Triple H in a position of such power while still an active wrestler, but once he's hung up the boots for good, do you think Triple H would make a good booker or not?
This is more interesting due to recent developments, with Shane leaving WWE.
Personally I think it would be a mix of good and bad. While I probably agree with some of his wrestling principals, I do think he seems to like breaking kayfabe and using insider jokes, as seen in pretty much any DX segment, and I personally don't like this stuff in wrestling. I feel too much of his material would only be understood by a very small percentage of the fanbase, and also, he may bring himself back to TV in an authority figure role and steal other wrestler's thunder even worse than Vince ever did.
Thoughts?

You make some good points.. probably the biggest issue if he was a booker (AFTER) he retired would be that he seems like a guy who would make a lot of IWC-like segments. I like them, but that's because I understand them. When you have ones like him and Dusty, where a small portion of the crowd understand it, it doesn't really do anything.

I feel the same way. Like the question was asked about Flair as well, and i think that he has to much history with the boys (Good and bad) to be in a position of power. Now, if he were to be part of a board of bookers etc. then his power would be limited and monitored hugely. So I personally say he should not be given any power without and equal to oppose him.

My WWE Universe NOC is UP! Check It Out! Credit and Thanks to: Doctor Doom for Banner. AWESOME DUDE!
Triple H has been known as a student of the game. He has extensively studied the sport and past videos. Not many people have done that like him. I think as a booker it is definitely an asset. While I disagree with wrestlers holding booking powers, I am not afraid of a retired Triple H running the WWE as a writer.

True but don't you also think he'd be a bit too old school and wouldn't really be up to date with what people want to see nowadays? Seems like he would be to me.

Depends on who else is on the staff, who he listens to, and how much he studies the current product. Honestly, I do not know and I do not know anyone fan who does.
What I can say is I have been getting a lot of surveys from the WWE lately. Recently, they have been moving away from just asking ppv names. And I had one asking about if I liked these theme concepts.
The WWE has never extensively asked its fans for its opinions through research before (well a survey every few years, but not like this). This is really good. I am not saying Triple H had something to do with it, but if it continues, then that is good.
The WWE just asked the fans for their opinions on which PPV name was best though right? They didn't ask if the fans liked the concept itself.
I don't see how there is any evidence that Triple H had any part in it.
No, I received an email with a survey this week asking the following:
- Did I order HIAC
- Did I like HIAC
- Which match did I look forward to the most
- Which one did I like the most
- Did I like the concept?
- Did I like the theme only ppvs like Breaking Point
- Will I order Bragging Rights
And you are correct, it does not prove that Triple H has anything to do with it. But considering that we always talk about his influence, it may show that this happening may be under his approval
Ah I wasn't aware of such a survey. That's certainly a positive step I'd say. WWE are all too often accused of not giving a damn what the fans think and doing what they want regardless of the fan's opinions.
I highly doubt Triple H has any say in such matters. He may have some creative control over his own character and may be able to influence more general booking decisions, but I highly doubt he decides on that sort of stuff.
