According to PWInsider.com, there has been active talk in recent weeks of pairing CM Punk with a bodyguard character.
Not sure if this supposed article mentions Sid, but it seems that he may infact be Punk's soon to be bodyguard.
I'm not sure how I'd feel for Sid returning but as for Punk, his character would do wonders with a bodyguard. Thoughts on who should be Punk's bodyguard?
I'd love Sid as the bodyguard so long as there isn't a competent younger guy who can fill that role.
Festus is a name that has been thrown around, the issue with Festus is that he doesn't look intimidating enough. I find it hard to believe that Festus could protect Punk from Batista, Taker, or even Kane.
Assuming he'd be willing to return, I think Big Daddy V would be great for this role. He'd be believable enough as a guy able to lay out Batista and Taker due to his massive bulk. He's also a natural heel in the kiddy era due to the fact that he is scary as fuck if you are under the age of 10.
I think it'd be pretty cool to see Punk recruit a Low Ki. Yeah, he's not exactly what you'd call a body guard but he still has that intimidating factor and you could use the reason that he's too prideful (and insane) to go up against the likes of Undertaker and Batista. He won't come out on top against those guys but Punk could still use it to his advantage.
/dream scenario over.
Mike Knox would have been possible if he didn't lose all the time. Lance Hoyt is an option, but ugh... I'd rather not see that truth be told.
Keep him solo, I say.

I could see Mike Knox working really well if they did something where he inexplicably helped Punk win against Taker at HIAC only to explain that his actions were an attempt to get Punk's attention and in turn gain his guidance.
They can exploit Knox's past wellness policy violation. Knox can say that his past drug use is the demon tormenting him preventing him from winning and reaching his potential. He wants Punk's guidance in the ways of straight edge. Not only so that he can become a better wrestler, but also so that he can redeem himself by spreading the word of sXe. In exchange he protects Punk.
Over a period of time you see Knox slowly develop into a killing machine under Punk's guidance, while Punk uses Knox as yet another tool to be even more of a chicken shit heel.
Or they could just say Punk is paying Mike Knox a lot of money for the chance to hurt a lot of people, since that's kind of his gimmick right now.
That would work if Knox was actually being booked as unstoppable. The issue I was addressing was the fact that Knox is losing to guys like Finlay in Belfast Brawl's. Although they are close losses, if Knox cannot take Finlay at the moment in an anything goes situation how is it logical that he can take Batista, Taker, Big Show, or Kane?
They'd need some sort of twist to explain Knox turning into an unstoppable monster. The Straight Edge lifestyle is just the right twist.

Except bodyguard doesn't necessarily mean he has to be able to beat everyone cleanly, just be big nasty bastard that can hurt people (and this much he HAS be doing).
I mean, if it was that important they could easily between then and now feed him a bunch of enhancement talent and watch him squash them. The crossbody of manliness is awesome and needs more victims.
