In Orton's case, the feud that made him a star (vs Foley) was already in progress before Lesnar left.
I should have been a bit more clear. I'm more so referring to his Heavyweight Title match/win against Benoit.
I can't be the only one who was surprised at how he got the #1 Contendership and win over Benoit over night.
I really don't think he would have won the belt until SummerSlam of the next year.
Batista still could have became champion, but I feel him getting the big push against H had a lot to do with the fans pushing him. That in turn was created by circumstances, ones that likely wouldn't have happened if Lesnar had been around.
The apparent plans were Triple H/Brock for Mania 21, which in turn cancels out Batista/Triple H for Mania 21.
The payoff to Orton winning the title was a long term feud with HHH. Something I think they would have held off on if they knew they had HHH/Lesnar looming for Mania.
I could be very wrong, because I am just going on what the speculation rumors wise was at the time....which always can be extremely inaccurate.
I went to 'Mania 21 and although Batista/HHH was a pretty damn good match, i would've loved to have seen Brock/HHH. That's a dream match that is highly unlikely to ever happen. We got a triple threat including The Rock at Global Warning but it's just not really the same.

Batista is the slower less talented version of Brock Lesnar. WWE tried to make Lashley like Lesnar, but failed because Lashley cant talk(and have a baby face). HHH vs Lesnar would've have been great, but will not be surpassing Angle vs Lesnar, a classic 5 star match if Lesnar didn't botch Shooting Star Press
Brock was fucking brilliant, still remember him beating the crap out of Zach Gowen To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. and every other "small" wrestler, it was maginficent to watch, the brutality.
