Randy Orton: Better Chasing The Title

To the best of my knowledge, when Orton was chasing the title while Cena had it, everyone was all over Orton saying how good he became, etc etc... Then he becomes champ, and people go back to saying how boring he is.

Now, he comes back, has probably the best heel persona in ages when he took out all the McMahons, and again, he won the title. Now, he just got boring again.

I have more to say, but this is the jyst of it. Anyone else agree Orton's better when he's chasing after the title, instead of being champion?

Re: Randy Orton: Better Chasing The Title

I think in general it is better for heels to get long reigns and faces to do the chasing. People only wanted Orton to win because they were so sick of Cena's reign in 2007, and Orton only looks bad holding the belt now because the feud is god awful and Triple H is so overprotected. Nobody likes to see a Champion looking awful compared to the challenger, even if they are a heel.

So I think Orton could be a great heel Champion if he wasn't booked so weak and didn't always feud with Trips.

Re: Randy Orton: Better Chasing The Title

Orton was always boring, it was just the perception of him. That's kind of what you're pointing out, huh?

I don't think chasing or holding the title really makes a difference. People are bored of him in the title picture. I mean, he was chasing the title at WrestleMania, but the match he put on was still appalling and, though opinions may differ, the storyline he was involved in was just silly.

Re: Randy Orton: Better Chasing The Title

Orton isn't good at holding the title because he basically feuds and takes out everyone before he wins the title. Then he is left without a program and has to stretch out feuds like HHH with no more motives to base it on. It gets boring. Fantastic points, PY.

There are plenty of motives. It just gets boring because it goes on for ages.

i think overall, Orton has always been boring with the title. His best times have always been when he was chasing the champion IMO.

Re: Randy Orton: Better Chasing The Title

But if he was feuding with guys like MVP and even Evan Bourne, it would be interesting.

It is just hard to watch when he is feuding with a guy who is made to look absolutely unstoppable. Orton bullying some younger guys would be great to see. When he was in the ring with Bourne on RAW, I couldn't help but think about how refreshing it was to see him in there with someone other than Triple H and Cena.

His reigns have just been a waste really. He's only ever been a sacrifice for Triple H, a man who didn't need putting over.

Re: Randy Orton: Better Chasing The Title

I think it's just this shiteous feud. We've seen Trips/Orton once a year for the past 5 years. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm totally over this shit. I really really really want my Cena/Orton feud. I know they already did something, but it never really have a conclusion.

Back on topic, I really do think it's god awful booking. They book Orton way too weak and they book Triple H way too powerful. Orton took out the entire McMahon family, including Triple H, and when Triple H returned he owned Orton and his lackeys. How am I suppose to believe that one dude can beat down three decent sized guys? It's just not possible.

Re: Randy Orton: Better Chasing The Title

Orton has always been a tool for the company, and not in a good way. In better word, a Transitional Champion. Orton has the potential, and has had some really good matches. I think he needs a fresh roster of top talent to work with...ie, DRAFT HIM TO SMACKDOWN!

Then what is fueling this? It has been just the same stale "I've taooken out the McMAhons and Triple H" fpr the past three months. There is no more feul for the fire in this feud.
