RAW is stacking the card on the Vengeance PPV for the 2nd year in a row.
Last year, it can be argued that the Vengeance PPV was the best single brand PPV they've ever had with Angle/HBK II, HHH/Batista Hell in a Cell, and Cena/Christian/Y2J among others.. and it came right around the time of ECW One Night Stand. There were rumblings on some internet sites that McMahon wanted to ensure that RAW's buyrate didn't get stomped by ECW..
Fast forward to this year, ECW ONS2 has gotten praise from almost everyone and Vengeance again is looking to be the PPV to buy as far as single brand PPVs go.. We'll have some sort of championship match whether it be Cena/Edge or RVD/Cena/Edge, we'll have the return of D-X against the Spirit Squad, a legends match between Flair and Foley, possibly another Orton/Angle match, and a solid IC Title match with Shelton/Carlito/Nitro..
It appears that Vince, once again wants to make sure they don't get blown away by something he didn't create.. Now before you jump all over me, I think it's great that Vince is pulling out all the stops because if he, in his own mind, sees ECW as a threat to the the original WWE product, then we can expect to see the best come out of it for both brands, in both striving to be the talk of the town..
It could also be because they leave so little time to build after ONS to Vengance that the matches on paper have to look good rather than solidly built new fueds/ideas.

I'm getting to the point where I don't have an opinion about wrestling anymore (hurrah shout some!!).
There are angles taking place all over the place at break neck speed, twists and turns everywhere, angles being hotshotted over two week periods and major major storylines that should take up three or four months being done, dusted and forgotten in the space of a couple of weeks before we move onto the next thing.
Not watching (reading the reports instead) obviously makes this worse.
It all sounds to me so much like the boom and bust 2001 period where incredible things were going down way too quickly on live TV and because there is so much happening in a non-controlled way, none of it is sticking.

Just wondering DK..
How do you think they should handle the ECW situation, the WWE Title situation, Smackdown!, and D-X?
Here's the chance for you to get all your thoughts in one post!
One post! That would need a whole dissertation.
Or quickly leave ECW to Heyman, have Cena win tonight and Vince make the count, take smackdown off air or rename it thunder and get a couple more guys in DX.

That would need far too long a reply.
Suffice to say that I like a slower build to events and shows to give them a sense of greater importance and value. None of what WWE is tossing out at the moment will be remembered a few months from now, let alone a few weeks.
For example, does it feel phenomenal or in anyway "special" the RVD has just won his first World title. Foley and Flair have a storied and lengthy background of disliking each other and are both incredible speakers, perhaps the two best promo guys in the World. So they get a two week build to a PPV match. DX is back, oh yeah it's on free TV, it's come and it's gone.
Flash booking like this builds nothing, creates nothing and gives nothing a feeling of being special. All things that WWE, post 2001 when they did this before around Invasion, vowed they would never do again and had learnt from their lessons.

I could go into a big spiel about how they must be careful of allowing Kevin Dunn to produce the programmes, especially bearing in mind they are taking place prior to Smackdown events, as this will not lend an ECW feel to the shows. How they have to be mindful of allowing Heyman to have a major say on all things to do with the show as their booking and wrestling style are not the same. How they must not pepper the roster of ECW with ex WWE guys that have been pinned to death on their shows over the years.
Oh all sorts of things concern me, but the bottom line is I don't truly know. It's Vince's new little toy at the moment and, outside of WWE products he has an abysmal business record, but we'll see.

Obviously Poduction costs were in Vince's mind when he decided to lump Smackdown and ECW tapings together, (pretty much like the supershows of late). I don't feel it's a mistake on prouction technique because Dunn has had an hand in producing the ONS's and they did retain a lot of the feel of ECW. Where I fear for it is that a lot of the ECW feel came from the confines of Hammerstien, I feel this will be lost in some of the generic places that Raw/Smackdown tapings are usually scheduled. I also feel that a crowd that sat thru Smackdown is not the most lively at the best of times. It would be quite funny to see an empty arena for Smackdown that is full for the ECW taping because ticketholders only show up for ECW.
