Ok, now some of you are probably thinking lulwut.. Joel's been bashing WWE for a while now, why did the hypocrite actually go to a show. Well the tickets for this went on sale long back into last year when I still had a smidge of interest in the product. And the tickets we got were expensive third row seats.. I wasn't not going to go after having paid for them. We were on the TV viewing side of the ring. Its pretty late as I type this and Im tired so excuse me if I fuck plenty of stuff up, I just wanna do this while its all still fresh in my mind.
Now overall.. this was prolly the worst show they've ever done is Brisbane. The Raw live events have historically been alot less entertaining than the Smackdown and Smackdown/ECW shows that have come here in the past. The opening match was probably the peak of the show for myself.. and everything kind of lessoned in quality from then onwards. But one unexpected event at the end of the show had me leaving with half a smile on my face.
Opening Match:
Goldust vs Chavo
Wait.. a jobber match was Joel's favorite match from the show? Yep. Firstly.. my mates and I were pretty vocal throughout the entire show, we're prolly the token heel group of fans that are at every event.. we cheer for most of heels (nonsensical right? cheering a guy who's a heel won't don't him any favours) and boo pretty much all of the faces. This was prolly the only match were I cheered for the face.. I love Goldust. I told him do the shattered dreams at the start of the match for us and he laughed and signalled putting some guys legs on the ropes in the turn buckle as if he was about to kick them in the balls. I had this idea to banter Chavo with swine flu chants as he came down the ramp.. and we did throughout the match, I guess he could've been pretty offended by it... lul. Anyway, the match was pretty regular but the interaction with Chavo and Goldie made it fun.. hornswaggle came in at the end and offered a distraction for Goldust to pick up the win.
Divas Title Match:
Maryse vs Kelly Kelly
Pretty dull match as you would expect.. but its always fun to perve on the divas. First time seeing Maryse.. she was really thin.. and had absolutely no ass (nothing like the ass you see in DD's avatar) but she was still hawt. She winked at me after she did her hairflick thing during her entrance (I know OMG).. I was pretty much the only one cheering for her when she came out. I saw Kelly Kelly last year and she hasn't lost any form.. great ass, but much of my focuse was on Maryse, lul. Maryse wins with a DDT.
Triple Threat Match - US Title
Kofi vs Regal vs MVP
An ok match.. Kofi was the most over face, Regal got plenty of heat.. and MVP was popular but not as much as Kofi. I cheered for Regal upon his entrance.. hailing him as his came over to my side of the ring.. he called me an idiot and everyone lol'd at me, good heel work.. I stopped cheering for him from then on. Each guy did most of their routine staff.. Kofi hits trouble in paradise on Regal for the win.
Brisbane Cup Battle Royal
Pretty much everyone currently active on the Raw roster.. from guys like Kendrick and Marella to that of Cena and HHH. The winner got to vs Randy Orton for a Title shot later in the night. Decent battle royal, they've done a few of these here over the years and this was one of the better ones. Highlight was prolly Santino trying to take on both Cena and HHH... Santino ended up eliminating himself over the top rop after some funny back and forths. Now, my friends are very anti Cena.. and I didn't really think much of him either going into the show so I gave him plenty of shit too. I shouted Cena Sucks everytime he came over to our side of the ring and everytime he got into a big exchange.. Cena definetly new we were there. The final three was Dibiase, Rhodes and Cena. HHH was eliminated by Big Show after show got revenge on him for eliminating him earlier in the match. Cena takes care of Legacy pretty easily... wins. Im chanting Cena sucks as he celebrates.. everyone around me is kind of confused, my group was the only anti Cena group there. Between parts in his post match promo Id shout shutup when it was silent and everyone could hear it, people were yelling at me to shutup, luls.
INTERMISSION
Grudge Match
HHH vs Big Show
A grudge match only within the context of the show, I don't know if they're actually feuding or not at the moment. Pretty boring match... long. HHH is over as hell.. Show is playing heel and doing heel work but was still getting some positive responses. Big Show ends up hitting a Chokeslam.. HHH kicks out. HHH hits a pedigree.. Big Show kicks out. A little bit more offense by HHH followed by another Pedigree for the win.
Mainevent - WWE Title Match (already? lul it was weird)
Orton vs Cena
Orton comes at first.. but he's the champion, confusing. He gets a pretty big reaction.. mixes of boos and cheers, the ladies fucking love him. Cena comes out.. kiddies and women go crazy, ear drums pop.. we give Cena shit again. Long match.. Cena opens up with plenty of offense, doing his trademark stuff. Orton eventually gets control after some exchanges on the outside and after sending Cena into the steps. We then get into that slow methodical/boring Randy Orton style match.. with plenty of stomping, punches, choking, restholds. He gets his signature neckbreaker and rope DDT in at certain points. Cena eventually turns the match around with that legdrop fameasser shit off the top rope (which we all saw coming from a mile away), we give him more shit. Cena does some more stuff, sets up for the FU.. Randy reverses and hopps to the outside of the ring apron.. hits Cena with a hangmans choke thing over the ropes. Randy goes back in.. sets up for the RKO.. reversed into an FU. Randy kicks out of the FU. Some more shit happens... Randy hits RKO eventually. Cena kicks out. Randy looks for the punt.. Cena moves, locks in the STFU.. Randy gets ropes.. Cena pulls Orton into the centre of the ring (which at this point we all look up the entrance stage) and surprise, surprise here comes the legacy right on cue.. and then we get a DQ.
Post Match - Legacy continues to beat down on Cena until Trips comes down.. Cena and Hunter clean house. We proceed to give Cena more shit as he hops back on the mic and does his cookie cutter good guy promo about Randy and his group being cowards. Legacy and Orton are about to leave when Cena asks crowd to start a Wanker chant at them.. of course the crowd complies. Randy and Legacy are furious and go back down to the ring to confront them. After a few seconds looking at eachother Rhodes and Dibiase leave the ring.. Randy doesn't notice this until he's right up in Cena's and HHH's faces... uhh ohh. Randy gets pwned.. Cena and HHH celebrate.. we continue to boo and shout crap at Cena.
Now, I was giving Cena shit througout the entire night, my friends had anti Cena signs and everyone was rather pissed off at us. During Cena's post match celebration he was going round giving high fives and shit like that and eventually went back into the ring to throw some of his shit into the crowd. As he goes to throw his last wrist band he spots my group and I yelling abuse at him again, holding up our signs from the third row. He smiles, nods.. and throws me his last wrist band.. which swerves everyone to the fuck. I wouldn't have showed myself the slightest bit of attention if I was Cena after having just sprayed him with shitloads crap during the show, I was a real asshole. There were mountains of kiddies pleading for that last wrist band.. loyal Cena fans, much more deserving then I... but Cena gave it to me. I with much guilt pocketed that sweaty wrist band as huge amounts of kids and parents looked at me with disgust. 'How dare he take that after the nonsense he's yelled at John' - they must have thought. My friends told me to throw it back at him.. aka The ECW fans at ONS, but I smiled and nodded back at Cena. He was the bigger man.
All in all, this was an average show... Cena's bold character at the end saved it from being a shitty one. I salute him.. HUSTLE, LOYALY, RESPECT.
