Edge has too many world titles.

Edge has been in alot of matches and done great things. But two things bother me.

1. He is a 9 time world champion

2. They are all pretty short title reigns.

Edge won his first world title in 06 and since then he had 8 more reigns. 9 reigns in 42 months would average it around 6.6 months per reign. Those numbers dont match completely but the point is is that despite edge deserving of being a multi time champ, its still alot, I mean he loses the WWE title from Hardy and wins it back a month later he loses the WWE title in the elimination chamber and wins the WHC the same night in the same type of match. I suggest we Unify the world titles(yes even the ECW title) and stop this crap of jumping around brands for titles. Guys served longer times in the WWE and wrestling and didnt/havent had anywhere near the number of titles as Edge (RVD/Eddie/Benoit/Mysterio/christian/Micheals/Kane).

Anyways, I do agree to an extent, but I'm a huge Edge mark, so him having the belt, no matter how pointlessly, is good with me

WWE needs to let him have a nice, LONG reign with a world belt. His WWE Championship reigns have been 21, 76, 21 and 21 days long. His World Heavyweight Championship reigns have been longer at 70, 105, 29, 49 and 42 days. That is an average of 48.22 days each.

As for experience, Edge has been wrestling since 1992 and in the WWE since 1998. So he was wrestling for 14 years and in WWE for 8 years before he won his first world title. RVD had been in WWE for 5 years and blew his only reigns as world title because of his weed addiction. Mysterio has been in WWE for 4 years and was only given a pity reign. Christian left WWE before Edge won his first world title, so you can't really count him (plus Christian won a world title after only 2 months back in WWE). Eddie was in WWE for 3 year (first joined in 2000, but he spent a year on the indy circuit after being released in 2001 after being arrested for drunk driving). Benoit also only a few years. Michaels was in WWF for the same amount of time as Edge before winning his first title (8 years) and spent 4 years retired due to a back injury. Kane was always more of a wrestler meant to help build others and compete with world champions.

I have always been a huge Edge fan, that is why I want Edge to get a run with the belt of at least 6 months.

I'm a fan of Edge. But really, I don't even take into consideration belts people have won anymore. It means absolutely 0 to me. When I first started watching, it was basically an honor to have 4 or more runs. Now it's just ridiculous, so like I said, don't even look at reigns anymore. I agree with Kennedy though, they need to start having him, and other wrestlers to have longer runs...so it would mean something when they lost it, and maybe look like they care.

I have to say - although I agree with the "position" that Kane's been put in - that I would love to see him with another World Title. Yeah, the one-day reign in '98 and the reign he had as ECW Champion were nice. But... I think they need to put the mask back on him and screw the on-going feud with Khali and push him like the did when he first debuted.

Do an Undertaker-style angle where he gets burnt/buried/etc, sit him out 4-5 months, and then have him come back on Raw (where he should be) and push him for the belt. But, that's just my opinion... and yeah, I'm a little biased

I agree that they need to give Edge a long run with the belt. Partly because its the only way he'll ever be taken serious as champion and partly because, as Deuce says, they need to stop with all these stupid short title reigns. Title changes mean nothing now because they happen so frequently.

Like others have said he needs a long title reign. All of his title reigns so far have been under 5 months. Also Edge having what 8/9 title reigns in the past 3 years is pretty much a joke. Especially since he has another 5 years or so in the WWE before he could consider retirement. At this rate he will double Flair's record by the time he retires.

Mainstream wrestling in general has an issue with keeping a belt on someone for more than a few months. Especially the world title, which is in a constant state of flux. Since the World title came into play in 2003, only Triple H and Batista have had reigns longer than 6 months. With the WWE championship, since 1997, only Cena, HHH, Orton, and JBL have had reigns longer than 6 months. Its just how mainstream wrestling works, belts are never in a fixed spot for a long time. I just dont see them stick the belt on Edge for an extended period of time. With how much they move the belts around, they basically are a joke as it is. They really dont mean as much as they did 10-15 years ago.

I think Edge's character is coming to an end really because although he is a heel and people are supposed to boo him, you can hear lots of fans cheering especially at PPV's. I think after 4 years as a heel a babyface turn is needed just to freshen him up a little because he is a great wrestler, can speak well on the mic and can have great matches to make other guys look better. I'm not happy the way Edge won most of the titles but I am happy he has finally made it to the top and stayed there after all the years he has been in WWE.
