Edge has too many world titles.

He has had way to many title reigns. I wouldn't put it back on him for at least a year because he's been stale for more than 3 years now.

Doesn't bother me. I thought that a match between him & Triple H for the Undisputed WWE Championship, when they're both on 16 reigns could be huge.

The belt is only a prop anyway.

I like to imagine what the WWF would have been like if they had two World Championships in the Attitude Era and all that comes to mind is Savio Vega being a 7 time WWF World Heavyweight Champion.

That would mean he was stale in 2006, which he quite clearly wasn't...

I agree he is stale now, but it is only really since his involvement with Vickie that he became stale. Obviously he has had far too many reigns and a look at Edge's title history pretty much sums up how meaningless the belts have become in modern day WWE. They are basically just passed around constantly with no real though put into it and no real meaning to any of the reigns, and Edge has won the title in similar BS fashion so many times that it's beyond boring now. Not one of his reigns has really been memorable or meant anything besides the one that elevated him in the first place, and even that only lasted 3 weeks.

I would say he deserves a long reign, but at this stage I just want him to be involved in a non title feud (when he returns). I'd like to see him get a fairly lengthy face turn in time though.

His most ridiculous reign was definitely the one late last year when he won it from Triple H is BS fashion then lost it to Hardy the next month just so Triple H still looked like the best on the brand despite not holding gold.

9 world titles (3 time TNA World Heavyweight Champion, 1 time WCW Champion, 1 time World Heavyweight Champion, 4 time WWE Champion). He made his professional debut in 1999. However, Angle won an Olympic Gold medal in 1996, a Gold medal in the World Championships in 1995, and a ton of other amateur accomplishments and is arguably one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

Successful transitional champion is successful.

That's really all Edge is. I doubt he will ever be considered as one of the greatest WWE/WHC Champions of all time because he really doesn't do anything but put over the next guy in line when he is the champion. Even as a heel, he's very ineffective since he doesn't draw near as much heat as a top heel should for whatever reason. Whether it's the fact he's just too "cool" to be hated by everyone or that a lot of today's fan just naturally hate WWE's babyfaces and cheer for the other guy, Edge really doesn't do anything for me as a champion.

I think the only reason he's had as many title reigns as he has is because he's reliable and will work with anyone. He has some great matches here and there, but he's nowhere near as consistant as Rey Mysterio, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, John Cena, and CM Punk usually are. Jeff Hardy isn't consistant in the ring, but fans consistantly want to see him, which is a lot more than I can say for Edge.

So as for the number of titles he's won, he's going to be very overrated by the next generation's wikipedia fans just because of how many titles he's won, so we might as well get ready for that. He's basically the Trish Stratus of the men's division, another highly-overrated champion.
