Shelton too good of a talent to keep getting shafted and kept in the midcard.I know some of you saying him sucking on the mic is what keeping him back not true Jeff Hardy (who I also Like) sucks at promos too and that don't hold him back he still main eventing and shelton is miles better in the ring than Jeff. I have no doubt if Shelton went to TNA he would be main eventing and would become tna champion.I don't know I'm just frusted that he keeps getting trated like this when he deserves better.
No, Shelton is not even close to being a main eventer. He is medicore on the mic (you say Jeff is bad, I disagree. Since returning to WWE he has become pretty good on the mic). He is a good technical wrestler, but not very entertaining.
As for TNA, that is not saying much. Let's use sports as a anthology. WWE is like the Boston Red Sox and TNA are like the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners have a couple of really good players, but the team can't compare to the Red Sox. TNA has some good wrestlers, but can't compare to WWE. Being a star in TNA doesn't mean you are a star in wrestling. I like Shelton Benjamin, but I never see him being worthy of the WWE Championship or World Heavyweight Championship. He might get a run with their 3rd tier world title (the ECW Championship), but never their 2 main world titles.
Welcome to the board by the way.

Being a good pure athlete isn't anywhere near enough to be a main eventer in pro wrestling. He has practically zero charisma for one thing, and for another, he isn't even that great in the ring. He can do a few cool looking moves but his matches don't draw me in at all. He doesn't have a great knowledge of psychology.
Mainly though, he is too bland to be a main eventer.
Yeah like Tommy said this sort of thread shows up every once in a while & every time we pretty much get the shame type of responses.
Shelton is a very talented individual but he lacks Charisma & the mic skills needed in order to be a main event. You need to be more that just talented to be a main eventer. You must be able to get the crowd behind you, If your a face you should be able to gain cheers & if your a heel you should be able to gain boos, You have to be good on the stick since by being a world Champion you are going to get a shitload of airtime & you need to have some sort of character. The only person i can think of who was able to pull of a good main eventer without having any sort of character was Benoit.
But yeah Shelton is talented enough but he just doesn't have what it takes to main event.
No charisma, thats the key factor. Guys like Savage, Flair, and Piper werent the most talented but they could put promos that leave the mic wanting for more. Shelton just needs to let loose, make a charismatic individual.
Instead of just saying "IM THE GOLD STANDARD" say more, "I've got too mush skillZ to just sit on the sidelines watching these fools scramble around for a Leather gold belt. Build a character that shows a different side of you.
Once he finds some charisma, then I'll consider it. Being able to run and leap doesn't make you a main eventer either. He's a great guy for stuff like ladder matches due to his elite levels of fitness, but can you really picture that guy as a world champion? Can you really seriously think that Shelton can beat guys like Cena, Undertaker, Current Triple H and Shawn Michaels? He doesn't even look like beating Dreamer right now for anything. He just doesn't have the "star" look, or the company backing to make him a star. Get over it >_>.
He has been given numerous chances. He works in that upper mid card role. Him on ECW will add great wrestling talent to the show, and really help elervate new guys. Would you buy a PPV for Shelton though? If the answers no then he isnt a main event material.
No doubt he fits his role though.

If Shelton Benjamin took Jeff Hardy's spot as a main eventer, then I'd be happy. But as the primary individual who has this opinion, I'm gonna get some flak for it.
This is pure lolz. Shelton is not over, nor can he get over enough to be a main eventer. What does he have going for him? Some athleticism? Wow, super duper. Guess what Kofi; you're a main eventer now. Why? Well because you can jump, sillybuns! Why else?
The most over Shelton ever got was when he was Intercontinental Champion in '04-'05 as a face. He played the role of well, a guy who was a good, up and coming wrestler. Super duper. Now, all of a sudden, wrestlers who play that character hit a point where well, they can't play that role anymore, because you can't be an up and coming superstar forever. Now here's the problem: any gimmick Shelton tried was going to fail, because he doesn't have the charisma. The character he was playing before required no charisma whatsoever. But then, to move beyond where he was, charisma was required. He didn't have it in late 2005, and in mid 2009 he still doesn't have it. Shelton is going absolutely nowhere, nor does he deserve to.
What I don't understand is why people can't just accept him as a career midcarder. He plays a fine role there and can do so for years to come. He can have multiple midcard title reigns and assist superstars in getting over just like he did Morrison earlier this year after his face turn. Shelton Benjamin can basically play the role Chris Benoit played, only he's younger. And who knows, maybe down the track, Shelton might get what Benoit got in a world title for all of his work. For now, he doesn't deserve to be in the main event. He only deserves to reach it on a permanent basis if he sticks with the company and Vince decides to give him it for his dedication.
TNA isn't even competition to WWE anyway so that's first out of the blocks. Second Shelton is a good wrestler and can have good matches but he is boring. His character is rusty and lacks an edge to make him better. His mic skills need improving to make him more believable rather than sounding robotic and cheesy. He won't go any further than ECW champ and will probably end up staying a mid carder for the rest of his tenure.
