The thing is, I've never said it was a 'race' issue. I'm pretty sure that for all of Vince's flaws, he doesn't go 'Hey MVP is black, let's not push him today.' I have more faith in him than that.
I just question his creative process, and not just with black wrestlers. I'm talking in general.
Well in that case I agree with you. WWE really put no effort into wrestlers characters now, and how often do we see an intriguing angle in WWE that allows us to get to know the characters, especially outside of main event? It's all just random matches with no backstory, and wrestlers hardly get any mic time to establish their character unless they're main eventers.
That's one of the things they've done right with MVP though. The VIP Lounge is a good way to make people care about him. Look at the pop he got Monday Night when he was talking about improving himself and making a difference since his jail time.
I know I said that sort of gimmick has been done before, but the fans definitely cared. Unlike Shelton, MVP has the charisma to go far.

It's never easy to defend Vince because he's such a massive fucking arsehole.
Lack of creativity has nothing to do with why black wrestlers aren't pushed, because it doesn't only effect black wrestlers. You could say the same for white wrestlers to, or hispanics, or aliens from the planet Zog... Lack of creativity is WWE's (and in fact wrestling in general) biggest problem. They boil each and every wrestler down to the lowest common denominator and assume that will be enough.
The reason less black wrestlers are pushed than white wrestlers, is because there are less black wrestlers than white ones.
The reason Shelton Benjamin isn't pushed is because (as well as the fact creative do nothing for him) he does nothing for himself and is sloppy and mediocre in every way.
Lack of creativity has everything to do with it. The only reason I brought Shelton's race into it because of the generic gimmick that he, and 98% percent of the black wrestlers in the WWE are given, as being a contributing factor in why he's not pushed.
It's obvious he's not mediocre or else he wouldn't be there.

Really? So everybody in WWE is above average?
Shelton is nowhere near main event quality on any level imo.

That's fair to both you and Raiz-R. I'm sure there's probably somebody that y'all like that I'm not really all that keen on either. You like what you like in wrestling, that's what makes it fun I suppose.
Shelton is probably the most overrated guy on the whole IWC. He has the potential to be an upper mid card wrestler, but not a main eventer. Yeah, he's had some good matches in his career but they were like three years ago. It's hard to mention anything notable Shelton did since the "Mama" days.

That promo actually had the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. You could tell he was really and truely passionate about what he was saying, and so you started to care about it. It was amazing. That promo, and the response to it, had me marking the fuck out. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Friends, guys?
Oh I like Shelton, but like PY said, it's been around three years since he's done anything of consequence that really made me care. Once upon a time I was all over the internet proclaiming Shelton the great black hope... He just let me down by being sloppy and losing interest and so I'm bitter. Haha!!
Friends? You mean you were actually hating on me? To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
