Being a good wrestler =/= being a main eventer. And as said before, Shelton doesn't have the character to pull anything of than a bluechip guy rising up the card. Putting him in a feud with Michaels may produce some alright matches, but it doesn't suddenly give him charisma. No main eventer has the ability to simply give him charisma.
I said that he needs a better character, neeeds to learn to try to get the character over. And I also said, that at the same tokken the WWE creative team need to book him better or get him the right character. No shit being a good wrestler dosen't mean your going to be a main eventer. If that was the case then he be a main eventer already, since he can out perform in match quality...then most of the guys in there right now. Problem is no one cares about him, we don't have a reason to. He lacks mic skills, but so does Batista and Jeff Hardy. But they have great characters and know there character. He (Shelton) just needs a good gimmick, and yes putting him up against main event talent is a great way to try to get him over. But only if presented a good character, so that relys on both himself and the creative team.

HELL NO. Shelton is a great wrestler. He has the in ring skills and the talent is there. There is no doubt about it. But unlike Chris Benoit and Jeff Hardy, Shelton can not get away with having awful mic skills. He has not ever improved on the mic and has not worked to get better at it. He can not connect to the fans.
He's certainly more of an entertainer than a wrestlers. R-Truth does flashy moves and interracts with the crowd.
And that's what being a wrestler is about. Interacting with the audience and drawing crowd reaction (thus making them more likely to buy into you and buy merch). Stating the obvious, sure, but it doesn't matter how talented Shelton is when he can rarely get a pop. I like him, but he's far from great in the ring. He botches a fair bit and just tends to be sloppy. That said, I still like him and would like a Christian/Shelton feud as a possible catapult to the ECW belt. Then he will make it or break it, I assume.

Batista has an impressive physique, so he instantly creates an air of awe from the crowd. Jeff doesn't need mic skills as he has a connection with the crowd thanks to his charisma. Shelton has neither an awe inspiring physique, nor a connection with the crowd thanks to charisma.
Putting someone useless in the charisma department is only going to lead to dead crowds, ala Triple H vs Vladimir Kozlov @ SS. Not that I can't wait to see Benjamin and Triple H in a feud. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
A good character does nothing if Shelton is unable to pull it off. And guess what; he isn't.

All this talk of him not having any charisma or not having the in ring talent necessary to be a top guy is unsubstantiated and flat out not true. Once the WWE ever decides to put their machine behind Shelton Benjamin, he'll become a main eventer.
I've brought this up before and I caught some flak but I'll say it again, Vince does not believe in Black main eventers not named Dwayne Johnson. They don't draw in his eyes. As long as he feels they don't draw, you won't see any (Kofi Kingston, MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Ezekiel) as WWE Champions.

Unsubstantiated? You mean I imagined all of those times Benjamin sucked the charisma out of the ring at the times I've seen him live? Or the times I've seen him cut crap promo after crap promo? Or the times he's failed to get me interested him over and over again, no matter how hard I try to like the guy thanks to the fact he can wrestle?
Vince doesn't like black champions? Sure, you could say that based on the black wrestlers who have held the WWE Title since The Rock has if there were any good enough to do so. But there weren't. MVP's the closest we've got to it, and even then, he's still not ready.

I've seen Shelton Benjamin live and I've never seen him suck in a match. But then again that's my opinion, you're entitled to yours. And even if you feel that way, he's had waaaay more good matches than bad. The mic? We all know he's no Rock or Cena on the mic, but then again he spouts out what's written for him. Real easy to trip over lines being fed to you or have no emotion when you're speaking somebody else's words.
MVP's the closest we got, yet he was squashed by one move in a six minute match last week on RAW; it only illustrates my point more.
Truthfully the problem is, a lack of imagination with creative.
Whenever the WWE Machine decides to move on them, or improve their creative process when it comes to black wrestlers, they'll main event. If not they won't, its that simple.
Lol. Shelton shouldn't be close to a main event. Same with Truth though I enjoy them. Kofi is further ahead than both but should not be more than a mid carder. Zeke? Lmao.
The only one who should be close to a main event level is MVP, and he needs a feud or two, a failed PPV title attempt (ala Orton vs. MVP with MVP losing then moving back to Uppermid card hell) before he should see a title.
People can shout race but it has nothing to do with it. It's about the green. Lashley would have been a top tier champ by now (mostly because of his look) and guess what.. he's black. I know, I'm in awe too.
