Monk's RAW Reviews 5-29-06

Blitzkrieg

-To start off RAW McMahon comes out and it was said that he'd be announcing a new GM. Well, he did...kinda. Actually, he announced a new asisstant (ass kisser) in Jonathan Coachman. Bullshit. I already don't like Coach is the new role, he'd be so much better as a manager. Oh well.

-Shelton Benjamin defends the Intercontinental Title against Kane and something very strange happens.. the mask appears again on the screen and out comes a guy dressed as the "old school" Kane decked with the mask and all. The guy gets in the ring, chokeslams the real Kane, sets off the fire, and that's that. No contest is the result but I'm just wondering WTF? I think Kane will have his mask back soon enough and I can't wait because I'm sick of this storyline.

-Beth Phoenix makes her debut in a diva tag match where it's her and Torrie against Candy and Vicky. Match wasn't great but Beth looks like a decent enough wrestler. Still looks like a man though.

-Paul Heyman and Mick Foley face off in another decent promo, Mick explains how Paul is just pissed because Mick made it in the big time unlike all those other 2nd rate ECW wrestlers and Paul explains that Mick is just a sellout whore. I liked it. Then Paul said he has tow draft picks for the ECW brand.. One of them is the obvious RVD from RAW.. but OH Shit!! on the 2nd pick. KURT FUCKING ANGLE from SD!.. wow, who cares about SD! anymore? I sure don't.. but this is a great addition for the ECW brand. It gives them a bigtime main eventer right away and lets remember ECW wasn't just about hardcore wrestling like people sometimes want to believe. Kurt comes out and beat Mick's ass and his mouthguard this week reads "violence".. Fitting.

-John Cena is out to face someone who he's never faced.. I didn't know who it could be but it ends up being Nitro w/Melina.. Awesome! They have a new updated entrance and I'm loving it. I love Melina on RAW and Nitro has a ton of potential. Of course, Cena wins the match but oh well, Nitro will be fine I'm sure. He's got IC champ written all over him already.

-Big Show and Edge face eachother for the #1 contender spot on the RAW brand Vengeance PPV. Edge wins after a cheat involving Lita.. What else is new? But oh well, Show had no real business in the match. Nice to see Edge back in the main event picture again. Dude is money.

To end the show we have HHH against Kenny with the rest of the Spirit Squad as lumberjacks.. Pre-match Vince makes sure HHH doesn't have his sledgehammer.. so I thought for sure we'd get an HBK run in even though Vince said he's injured and out indefinitely from last week's attack but we didn't get one. Instead HHH found a way to win the match and afterwards he was getting his ass kicked by all SS members but then he pulled out another hammer he had stashed at ringside and shit hit the fan for the SS.. No real D-X teasing, I'm wondering if it's off for now due to the HBK injury...

All in all it was an entertaining show throughout..

i thought raw was ok.. i like the build up to ONS2 but i do not know about angle being in ecw. i think that will hurt smackdown two much.. HHH being a face is the best thing they can do. i did not like nitro becoming a jobber to cena not a good show for him..but just ok for me a 6.5 out of 10

I like to comment on people's comments as i dont have to recap what someone else already talked about. Woot.

Yeah, He announced that he was going to announce a GM, then carefully words Coach as Special Assistant. It is a poor move in my eyes as Coach clearly has the charisma to get over in that role, like Nicky said, he is without a doubt in a much better position to be a manager of a crop of rookies. Even the spirit squads "coach" would work. I would rather see the role go to someone older, but its more of just a spokesman for Vince now.

Let's do this sooner than later. I wouldn't mind seeing Kane take a few weeks off then come back with the mask and crazy as fuck. Eventually he can have issues with the mask or have it be known that someone else like Paul Bearer is behind the power of the mask, etc etc but the mask is a good idea. Anything to keep any wrestler interesting.

Hahahaha. It's a man baby !! I was watching this part of the show with my wife and I said to her that I can't recall since they had her debut of a long like 2 or 3 seconds of a face shot. It was always her flinging her crazy hair all over the place and acting a fool. I agree with Nicky on this one. Not happening for me at all. Maybe I will come around, but she is good for wrestling and not much for the eye candy. I will take it still. I really think they need MORE women that can wrestle.

On a side note, I would like to see Ashley go down to the OVW for a while after she is healed if she isnt doing that already. She is green as hell, but has tons of potential. Bring back Christy too.

I personally think the choice of Kurt Angle is really good and also quite stupid at the same time if that makes any sense. The move of Kurt Angle to Smackdown does a few things, we can talk about that in another thread, but.... overall I dont like the move.

If he is IC champ material (BTW, I totally agree) but WHY WHY WHY have him go against Johnny "I NEVER LOSE" Cena? I was disappointed instantly when I saw him because I knew it meant a loss. So him and Melina are all over each other in the back? Its just because most of the guys in the back want Melina they get all pissy. So if this is punishment so be it, but it ends up hurting the WWE in the meantime.

Did you see Johnny and Melina's new entrance? Sweet. Johnny's couple of new style moves? Sweet. LOVE the addition of them to Raw. Smackdown is an absolute sinking ship.

He is money, but we all know he is the new Jericho. He will always be up there now, but the gold will continue to be one step ahead of him. Too bad too.

Looks that way huh? Sucks. HHH needs a good permanent face like HBK to rub off on otherwise people may not stick to this face turn.
