Tom, you do realize one of your three favorite years in wrestling had as many titles in WWE as they have now, but with each wrestler on the same brand? AND TWO world titles. >.>
Looking back, 2001 wasn't that amazing. I never claimed it was the perfect year or anything. Two World Titles is always a bad thing, but at least there was a reason for it. When the titles were unified, they should have remained so.

So you think that Hunter would of lost the WHT and won it back a month later in 2002, lost it for 3 months before winning it back in 2003, lose the title in late 2004 only to win the vacant title back and win the title at No Mercy only to lose it by the end of the night on his own?
Even the biggest haters of Hunter isn't denying that he earned the early title reigns, but now a decade later, can you really say you feel he's deserved most of his reigns since 2002?
No one DESERVES 13 title reigns, let alone 16. It's all for the sake of the business. Oh, and those years you mentioned, Steph wasn't even a part of the creative team. She didn't get that job until 2006, when Cena was champ. Now, how many times was HHH champ from 2005-2007? I forget. Oh yea, it was none. He was too busy jobbing at three straight WMs, reforming DX, and getting hurt. If anyone played politics to get the title on HHH, it was HHH, which means he got them on his own. Not because he banged his way to the top.

Did you miss the part when Jim said ratings were higher without Triple H on the show then? It is pretty obvious that it isn't ''for the sake of the business'' because the only guy who is benefitting is Triple H himself. Holding down talent who could make WWE a lot of money is not beneficial to the business. Having the same guy main event for 10 years when he isn't really drawing is not helping the business.
Its not about Steph being part of the creative team, it is about Triple H marrying into the McMahon family.

Since when did Vince put ANYTHING over his business. He always does what HE wants to do. HHH was in the main event for years before he married into the family. He didn't marry Steph until 2003. By then he was already going into his long title reigns. Get real. THere is no way Steph ahd that much power.
And as for the ratings, since when do the E change things up right away for the ratings. A month or two ago the ratings dropped below 3.0. DId they change anything? No. Did they change things when Cena was getting the heel treatment, not really. The fact of the matter is that they don't change their plans just because the ratings drop a little. They do what they want.

And we have already established that it is mainly his recent title reigns which have been the result of his marriage to Stephanie. It is now that he is stale and it is time for somebody new (well for a few years now) but due to his ties with the McMahons he is the only guy who has been allowed to remain as the face of the company/a brand for so damn long. The early title reigns are not really relevant to debate that point.

Yea, Cena's been main eventing for going on 4 years, yet his total days as champ ranks 5th all-time. And when he got stale, they stayed with him. Is he banging the boss's daughter? No. And as for HHH's recent title reigns, have we all forgotten those three and a half years of no title reigns. I think we have.
Re: If HHH surpassed Flair's 16 World Title Reigns...
Got to Keep in mind that Ric Flair indeed has more than 16 title reigns, so even if HHH surpass 16, Ric Flair will still be superior on the Titles topic, plus HHH's title reigns have all been short, in fact, Cena have more time with the World titles than HHH.
putting my HHH hating to a side, HHH is a valuable superstar in the WWE, is no surprise they made him break The Rock's record (I Believe that there was another reason apart from "refreshing things up" when they traded the titles in the brands...again)
If it happens (Which more likely will In My Opinion) i will be angry at first, but i'll get over it.
