Benjamin is a terrible heel and a personality vaccuum.
QFT. This is why he will be a career midcarder. If he had half the personality of MVP or Kennedy, we'd be seeing a lot more of him. Right now, all we know about his personality is that he likes gold and that he's a serious competitor. Wow, that's groundbreaking stuff right there. He couldn't possibly be more one-dimensional.

He just needs to improve his Mic Skills & gain a personality really. He has the athletic ability to get over but with a lack of mic skills you wont make it far unless you get over with at least 90% of the fans I.e. Hardyz & Benoit. All three lacked on the mic but were able to get over with the fans pretty easily. Shelton just doesn't seem to have that natural main event type charisma about him though.
no way his gold standard gimmick to me is his best persona for years.
To answer the question what will WWE do with him:
Nothing. They should of in 06 - didnt - they never will. Im willing to bet alot on it he'l never become a champ and im serious about that.
There was a land far away, where a Pay Per View was a rare and special event, feuds weren't a monthly exchange and the term 'Wrestling' wasn't a forbidden word. And in that very special land, there lived men known as bookers who's sole job was to get the other man of the land over with all of the townsfolk. If a man was large and sluggish, they kept his matches short and simple. If another man was a natural, they made sure to pit him against the lesser humans so that the lessers look better. Finally, if a man was born without a voice, they created a magical entity known as the manager. The manager would be that mute man's voice and suddenly the mute know longer had any problems to deal with. You see, in this land far far away, if a man wasn't popular with the townsfolk, it was the bookers who were at fault, not the man.
Sadly, this far away land has long been forgotten along with it's ideals and beliefs.

I agree with "Jim". He definitely needs a manager. I feel he's improved on the mic SLIGHTLY and attempts to show a bit more charisma, but he hasn't come close to being charismatic enough to warrant a push yet, unlike say John Morrison who people call terrible on the mic which goes right over my head and confuses the hell out of me. Shelton is very good in the ring and someone such as Striker would have been a great fit for him.

I'm not saying it's a racial thing either. I know Vince doesn't just say "Har, I'm not gonna push him cause he's black." It's just that with black wrestlers, there's not a lot of diversity that's given with their gimmicks.
Look at Cryme Time, and R-Truth --Thug gimmick
Look at MVP and Shelton Benjamin -- Prima Donna athlete gimmick (a la Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson)
I mean Mark Henry doesn't have either of those, but let's be honest, he's not gonna be pushed to the moon because he's not much of a draw.
I'm just saying they don't think outside the box with a lot of black wrestlers. Maybe one or two here and there like a King Booker, but then again he was booked (pardon the pun) to look weak.
First off, Lashley was not being pushed as the next Steve Austin.
And how am I off the mark? Think of the black wrestlers, not named The Rock or Booker T, now think of the gimmicks associated with the two I mention above. You can see how most of them fall into that category.
For those that don't have those gimmicks, think about the gimmick they did have, and whether or not that's a gimmick that would really catch on with fans, and lead to them being a world champion.
I'm not talking racial discrimination, I'm talking a lack of imagination. For most black wrestlers that's the case, because it seems that all creative does is put them in those same situation, and they come off generic.
Benjamin's gimmick is generic, his athleticism is what keeps him employed.
How do you explain Kofi Kingston then? He is black, he isnt a "thug" he isnt a "better than you" type person, he has a gimmick, and he is in Raws main event at No Way Out.
His gimmick is already beginning to get stale, yet there's no change to it. Nor is there any change in sight. He gets no mic time to at least even try to connect to the audience or put over why anybody should care about him wrestling. So there goes the chance for any huge or lasting angles.
Again, do you really see Kofi becoming a World Champion?
