Firstly, I'd like to say how much I like this current angle with Jeff being "assaulted" week after week, what with all the rumours of Christian returning and with the possibility of the attacker being Christian. Personally, I'd rather see Christian return later on, maybe at No way out, or even Mania, not the rumble. Because, I know its unlikely, but I'd love the attacker to be Matt, for a number of reasons.
If you look back when Matt was feuding with MVP for the US title, and he had a decent run with it, he just seemed to be another regular upper-mid carder, just like MVP and Shelton Benjamin, sadly enough.
But when he got drafted to ECW, things look promising for Matt when he won the ECW title, he had a fairly good run with it, but it seems that he was "dropped down" so to speak from a top brand to the bottom brand, even though he was over more once he was drafted to ECW. Now, If the attacker was to be Matt, that would generate so much heel heat it would be unbelievable, it would result in an epic "brother Vs. brother" feud that everyone would want to see, the heel turn in itself would push Matt Hardy, and hopefully push him to main event some PPV's, maybe win a title, a proper title I mean To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. Now, If the attacker is Christian, I'd rather see him return later rather than sooner, but if not, I'd like him to come back and feud against Edge as that would make more sense after Edge betrayed him all those years ago (or was it the other way around? I cant remember)
As for Edge, hes not been the same "Rated R" character that he used to be, hes just plain boring, and I know this might sound too sudden, but I'd love to see him turn face sometime, as it would probabally lift life into his character again and feud against a heel Vickie. If not, he seriously needs to be drafted to Raw, have him swapped for Jericho, which was a great idea, mentioned by someone elsewhere. as Jericho has done everything seemingly possible to entertain us on raw, what with his epic feud with HBK. That is what Smackdown! needs, SD needs Y2J.
To be honest, I think that WWE will ruin this feud by either bringing Christian in too early or just completely abandoning the angle.
What do you think will happen? Will Christian return heel or face? is he Jeffs attacker?

And when there is no hope,

and in my ignorance,
I'll be a slave and sycophant!"
I think it's Christian. Jeff mentioned something about 'crossing the line' on Smackdown during the sit down interview with Ross, I'm guessing that's a reference to TNA and Christian coming over to WWE. I predict Christian will return as a heel and align himself with Edge like old times.

Wow, thats good of you to notice that, I never actually noticed that, it kinda puts the pieces together a little. Maybe its a coincidence or a teaser, but I hope WWE don't rush it, I can see him returning tomorrow at the rumble, which imo, is a little too early.

It won't be too early if he shows up with like a mask or a disguise. It would just leave for more suspense, and if Edge is in the ring when it happens, then everyone will know that it isn't Edge. Could lead to tension between Jeff and Matt, and it could be great.

I think the attacker will attack Jeff before his Royal Rumble match perhaps, to try and make Edge win by forfeit, but that not being the case, Hardy would come down in typical Hardy "never say die" fashion and winning barely. then having the attacker go mental at Edge saying "I give you the opening, you should have won".

Re: Edge/Jeff/Matt feud discussion
I always thought the whole Christian thing was pretty much cast in stone (interrupt at Rumble, side with Edge).
However, it was only on the ECW show that I finally thought "well maybe people are right and it could be Matt".
He came out at the beginning of ECW with them having put over him losing their Title the week before to Swagger. But when he got to the ring, they didn't talk to him about that, instead they went into talking about Jeff immediately.
Of course, in the real world, that's what you'd do, but in the wrestling world that just reeked to me of "this'll come up next week to explain his heel turn on his bro"!!

I still think it would make little sense for it to be Christian. It should be Matt really, as that would be the most logical option and would do both guys a lot of good. Christian being the attacker would be such a random way for him to debut. Triple H would still be a good option but I have ruled that out now. I'm going for Matt, and hopefully it will make him a lot more interesting.

As someone who rarely watches Smackdown, can I ask how much hype they are giving the angle? Like, how much do the commentators bring it up or how many segments do they have on the angle? I'm sort of wondering how much exposure they are giving it compared to the HHH angle.

Yes it feels to me like it's being pushed much more than Hunter's feud. Quite rightly too. But with the angle playing out as it is, it's not featuring in main event matches on SD as Jeff is constantly getting benched!

JR reported it in at the very beginning of SD, they must have shown the pyro incident like 5 times, they interviewed jeff and he was like "I know who it is, they crossed the line,It was no accident".
Basically they wouldn't leave the angle along throughout the show.
