Foley is Blog: Mick's meeting with Mr. McMahon
By Mick Foley
April 26, 2006
I have an idea. I think it’s a great idea, but then again, that belief is coming from a guy who’s suffered more than a little head trauma in his day. So maybe it’s a lousy idea that only seems good to me. But I guess I’ll find out tomorrow, as I will be rising early to meet with Mr. McMahon himself in Stamford, Conn.
So, here I am, at 10:45 p.m., the night before one of the biggest creative meetings of my life, looking forward to the event with the wide-eyed anticipation of a child on Christmas Eve. Wait, wait, wait a second. I think I used that exact same analogy last week to describe the prospect of meeting Melina again. I can’t very well make it my “Foley is Blog” catchphrase analogy, can I? That would kind of cheapen everything involved, wouldn’t it?
Besides, I couldn’t help but feel as much as I like Melina, that comparing our next meeting to the joy of Christmas morning might be overdoing it a little bit. I mean, 40-year-old guy with a year-round Christmas room is a little strange, but kind of charming, right? But that same 40-year-old guy retreating into the hidden confines of a “Melina room” is a little bit stalkeresque, don’t you think? Kind of like a shocking transformation from Mick Foley into Mickie James. Over the years, my wife has come to accept the little quirks that come along with being married to “the Hardcore Legend.” Sure, at first she thought it was a little odd that I would want to travel a thousand miles to visit a children’s theme park that my parents took me to when I was four. But over the years, she’s learned to accept, and even look forward to our yearly “Santa’s Village” vacations. But something tells me that she wouldn’t be nearly as accepting of a similar request to visit “Melinaville.”
I hope all of you did enjoy last week’s column. But I don’t have a clue as to whether or not the subject of the writing did. So, if your name is Melina, and you are on the SmackDown TV show, and you have a really cool entrance, please let me know what you think of it. And then, I swear, I’ll leave you out of my blog for a while.
I just received word from Pocket Books that they will be expecting a completed manuscript of my upcoming book by July 5. Yikes! That’s less than 10 weeks to complete a book that I have yet to start. It might be impossible, but then again, it might be a hell of a book. I’m planning on it being an in-depth, behind-the-scenes account of the work, creativity, blood sweat and tears that go into taking an idea from conception to completion. It will be like a dairy…a hardcore diary! That might even make for a cool title: “Mick Foley’s Hardcore Diary.”
In addition, I will kind of chart a course of where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing over the last few years and will share some opinions on things I feel strangely about; WrestleMania, politics, Ric Flair, Edge, amusement parks, and of course, the expanded, updated Melina chapter.
Hey, as long as I’m in gratuitous plug mode, let me mention my upcoming personal appearances for the month of May:

K Jay Notes : Mick's meeting with Vince has intresting overtones. Could he be there to discuss becoming a fully fledged creative member (Vince leave my ideas alone (no actually use them all) (esp Juice)

. Or is it with relation to the buzz surrounding a possible ECW/WWE fued prior to ECW being reformed? Will Mick wrestle full-time during this project? (hard to see with a tight book deadline). The one thing we can be sure of is that when Vince and Mick knock heads the results are usually good. Perhaps Mick is just there to tell him how much this McMahonism stuff sucks....
