Mike Johnson is reporting that Santino Marella was arrested at 2:57 AM EDT this morning and charged with Driving Under the Influence.
According to Johnson, he was driving on Westshore Boulevard in Tampa, Florida when he was pulled over. Marella is currently being held in police custody on $500 bond.
We will post more on this developing story as it become available to us.
I doubt anything will come of this from WWE's end. Just a light slap on the wrist maybe.
Mama Mia!!if anybody is hurt by this then its Carlito who is supposed to be teaming with Santino and such due to their supposed push for the Tag Team Titles. Santino must of been depressed from having to job to Cody Rhodes. I would of been to but I wouldn't have drunk and drive.

As we reported earlier, WWE superstar Santino Marella (real name real name Anthony Carelli) was arrested this morning and charged with Driving Under the Influence in Tampa, Florida.
According to the police report, he was arrested at 6301 West Shore Boulevard with a blood alcohol level of 0.061. This figure is below Florida's legal limit in 0.08.
Santino was booked in Hillsborough County jail at 4:36 a.m. on $500 bail.
The arrest record indicates WWE as the name of his employer, which is technically inaccurate, since Santino is an independent contractor and not an actual employee of the company.

That is bullshit. An independent contractor is not tied to one occupation. They can move freely. Santino obviousally cant due to the fact that he is under WWE contract.

I know plenty of 'independent contractors' tied to one occupation. For years, I was an independent contactor tied to one occupation (systems administration). It is all in the contract the individual signs.

His choice, and all the more proof the he is an 'independent contractor'.
Most (if not all) of the WWE 'superstars' are independent contractors, not employees, because this saves the WWE money in health insurance (gotta be a nightmare there), and allows the employee to come and go as they please. Obviously the WWE has some say in that, but it's all a 'contracted' thing. Thusly, the individuals are in fact 'independent contractors'
That's the thing. Apparently there's a difference between a DUI & a DWI. The fact that the guy passed the alcohol test obviously means nothing to the policeman who'se opinion allowed him to arrest Santion under a DUI. To think they had the cheek to make him pay for bail, I'd sue their arses for wrongful arrest
