TNA To Lose Rights To NWA Name

TNA's contract which allows them to utilize the NWA name and title belts is set to expire within the next few months. With this TNA will rename the belts to TNA championship belts. TNA has plans to introduce their own set of World and Tag Team titles very soon. One scenario being discussed would see Samoa Joe win the NWA title and then toss it down saying he's the TNA champion instead much like Shane Douglas did in ECW back in 1995.vIt is worth noting that at a recent NWA show in Canada, Bryan Danielson made a challenge saying he wants to be the NWA champion. The NWA committee met and once the titles are gone from TNA Danielson is in line to be the next champion.

Bah why Joe is wat I ask. Hes already over with the fans let some other talent do that, like Alex Shelly, Senshi, etc.

You answered you own question there, because Joe is already over with the fans. If you are trying to establish a new title to the company you don't slap it on schmuck, you need an established wrestler who has main event status and can get over well with fans. Joe fits the bill there.

As far as giving it to Shelley or Senshi, neither will get it soon because each has their own thing going. Senshi has his feud with Austin Starr happening while Shelley is an off and on X Division guy. Neither wrestler has reached main event status yet so giving them the new heavyweight title would be stupid.

Giving the belt to Joe or maybe even Christopher Daniels is the smart move for TNA

Well if AJ was still a face, it would have been a good idea to give it to him but I totally agree on it being either Joe or Daniels.... although faintly in my mind I can see TNA changing their minds and giving it to Rhino... Not that I want that to happen, but I can see it happening.

I think its a good thing because new fans are always like "wtf is NWA, I thought this was TNA." They need a worthy champ to be the first, I'll say Daniels would be a good orginal for it.
