September 5th: A huge match has been signed for ROH's return to Philadelphia on 11/4 at the PA National Guard Armory. At the last Philadelphia event Homicide said he wanted a singles match against Steve Corino and now he has it. You will see Homicide vs. Steve Corino on 11/4 in Philly. These two have been rivals since 2002 and now they will settle things in Philly. The stipulation of this match will be announced in the upcoming weeks. Go to ROHwrestling.com or call 215-781-2500 for info.
September 5th: Make sure to check out ROHvideos.com for the new ROH Video Recap featuring an exclusive promo with Jim Cornette. There is also a new Welcome Video at ROHvideos.com. Check them both out for free!!!
September 5th: We have the entire field for "Survival Of The Fittest" on 10/6 in Cleveland, OH. BJ Whitmer is now out of the tournament due to his ankle surgury. The 12 participants are now: ROH World Champion and the first SOTF winner Bryan Danielson, last year's SOTF winner and ROH World Tag Team Champion Roderick Strong, the man who has been in the final two of both SOTF and ROH World Tag Team Champion Austin Aries, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, Jimmy Jacobs, Davey Richards, Jimmy Rave, Matt Sydal, Delirious, Colt Cabana and a graduate from the ROH Wrestling School. These 12 men will compete in six single matches in the first half of the show. The main event will see the winners compete in a Six Man Elimination Match. The winner will get a future ROH World Title shot. The epic rematch of Danielson vs. Joe has already been signed for the first round. We will have much more news this week right here in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire.
September 5th: Jay & Mark Briscoe are getting ready for a huge weekend at "Glory By Honor V" on 9/15 in East Windsor, CT and 9/16 in Manhattan with the huge debut at The Manhattan Center. The Briscoes are looking to be known as the best tag team in wrestling and they have been backing up their claim with incredible matches. They will be faced with four of the best going today on "Glory By Honor V Weekend." It will be an international dream match in East Windsor as The Briscoes take on NOAH's KENTA & Naomichi Marufuji. The Briscoes have jumped KENTA on recent shows and now KENTA is bringing his regular partner, Marufuji, to ROH to try to get some revenge. Manhattan will see a heated grudge match as The Briscoes take on the unique team of Brooklyn's own Homicide & Samoa Joe. This will be the first time that Joe & Homicide have ever teamed. Do we really need to give these matches any hype? Tickets are now on sale for both events.
September 5th: There are five new FIP DVDs now at ROHwrestling.com including recent shows from just a few weeks ago. 6/9/06 "Chasing The Dragon" (Davey Richards vs. Colt Cabana vs. Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong vs. Canadian Cougar vs. Steve Madison in a Six Man Elimination Match, Bryan Danielson vs. Sal Rinauro, Shingo Takagi vs. Erick Stevens), 6/10/06 "Impact Of Honor" (Bryan Danielson vs. Colt Cabana, Austin Aries & Roderick Strong vs. Jerrelle Clark & Jay Fury, Davey Richards vs. Shingo Takagi), 7/7/06 "Heatstroke '06: Night 1" (Bryan Danielson vs. Colt Cabana, Davey Richards vs. BJ Whitmer, Homicide vs. Shingo Takagi), 7/8/06 "Heatstroke '06: Night 2" (Bryan Danielson & BJ Whitmer vs. Homicide & Davey Richards) and 11/11/05 "Strength In Numbers" (Bryan Danielson & Jimmy Rave vs. Roderick Strong & Tony Mamaluke, Austin Aries vs. Sean Waltman) are now all available at ROHwrestling.com for just $15 each. Also out now is the latest from 1PW, IWC and UWF-TNA including "Hardcore War" from Philadelphia featuring Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels. Check the New Releases section of ROHwrestling.com for the complete list.
September 5th: The Pure Title might be retired, but ROH will keep the Pure Title rules for gimmick matches. If two technical wrestlers are in the middle of a rivalry they can settle their feud in a Pure Rules Match!!!
September 5th: Former Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness is not discouraged after losing the belt in Liverpool. McGuinness is training harder than ever in preparation for his match against Naomichi Marufuji on 9/16 in Manhattan. McGuinness, who is a regular in NOAH, sees this as the biggest match of his life. A win here would raise his prestige in both ROH and NOAH. Something to keep an eye on is that Marufuji is receiving a GHC Heavyweight Title Match this weekend against Jun Akiyama in Japan. This is Marufuji's shot at the most important title in Japan. We will report on this match next week in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire.
September 5th: We will have an update on ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson's shoulder injury later this week.
I can't wait to see Homicide vs Steve Corino. If their past matches are anything to go by then this one will be great too.
This years SOTF is looking really good. I'd like to see Sydal win the tournament setting up an Danielson/Sydal match at some point.
The GBH weekend is getting close now and I can't wait to see the results. Both nights have the potential to be two of the best shows in ROH history.
Homicide and Steve Corino should be a classic on 11/4. I can see it being very bloody and hardcore with Jim Cornette and Adam Pearce interfering on Corino's half and POSSIBLY and hopefully Low Ki returning to help out Homicide.
Survival of the Fittest 2006 is shaping to be good. Shame BJ Whitmer can't be in it. I'm not too happy about the addition of a student from the ROH Wrestling school.
I wish the Pure Title was brought back.
