Results From FPWA "Annihilation" In Pinellas Park, FL. New Champion Crowned

Quote:
On Saturday August 12, 2006, FPWA presented Annihilation! The event was held at the Boys & Girls Club of Pinellas Park, 7790 61st Street N., Pinellas Park FL, 33781. Like last month “The Road to Horror” continued with some great action. In attendance was TNA Wrestling’s Cassidy Riley and several students of the FXE Wrestling School of Orlando.

(1) VinnDetta defeated Sideshow and Dagon Briggs.

VinnDetta was in trouble from the opening bell as Briggs and Sideshow worked together before. VinnDetta did his best to try and keep one step ahead of the duo, whose bond quickly disintegrated when one went for the pin on VinnDetta. The former tag team champion recovered as Briggs and Sideshow tried to get the other to submit to painful holds. Briggs refocused on VinnDetta with a clothesline to the corner then an STO for two. Sideshow hit Briggs with a legdrop but VinnDetta kicked him in the chest and then an enziguri for two. Briggs hit VinnDetta with two clotheslines and a rolling DVD but Sideshow hit Briggs with Double Penetration. VinnDetta saw his opening and kicked sideshow to the floor to cover Briggs for the win. For some unknown reason Legion Cage came out to talk to VinnDetta. What looked peaceful turned violent when Cage jumped VinnDetta.

(2) Nooie Lee and Suicide defeated Deca and “Mourning Star” Marcus Hall.

Both team traded handshakes before the match. From the opening bell it looked like Lee and Suicide were trying to one up each other at the expense of Hall and Deca. While enjoyable for the fans, it wasn’t for Hall and Deca who finally got on the offense when Hall hit Suicide with a spinebuster. That move led to Suicide being on the defensive for several minutes as Lee could only pace the ring apron and grow frustrated. Hall and Deca hit Suicide with power moves that should have put away the youngster but he kept kicking out of pins. Lee finally entered the match and attacked Deca with a snap suplex for two. Deca tossed Lee to his corner where Suicide tagged in but Lee refused to leave the ring. Referee Billy Dalton told Lee it was a legal tag and he had to leave the ring. Suicide got back into trouble when he was hit with a powerslam for two. Before that move Hall had sent Suicide to the ropes where he collided with Lee, only adding to Lee’s frustration level. Suicide and Deca hit clotheslines and began a race to their corners. Both men made it and the double teaming began once more. Hall and Deca went for a move but Suicide tripped up Hall, dragging him to the floor into the ring post. Suicide and Lee hit Deca with an STO and went up top together. But they argued over who was to hit their frog splash. Suicide hit his then Lee hit one to end the match. This disagreement led to Suicide decking Lee and leaving him in the ring beaten.

(3) Pretty Fly defeated Austin Amadeus.

Amadeus didn’t like the fans mocking his attire so he took it out on Fly by working over his upper body. Could be Fly got too comfortable as a tag team wrestler. Fly recovered but was quickly dumped to the mat with a back suplex for two. Fly got to his feet and hit a running dropkick like move to Amadeus’ face then the dreaded Pepsi Twist for the victory.

(4) Legion “Freakin” Cage (w/Gina Marie) defeated Damien Angel.

At one point Gina Marie said she was a better referee then Ron Henderson, claiming Angel was pulling Cage’s hair. This just in Cage is bald! Angel was on the offensive until he ran into a Cage elbow. This led to Cage, with help from Gina Marie, beating down Angel. Angel hit a snap suplex for two but Cage used some leverage and dumped him to the floor into the waiting arms of Gina Marie. Gina chopped Angel who didn’t care for that, so he chased Gina around and then into the ring. However this pursuit ended when Cage hit Angel with a clothesline. Cage took Angel to the mat in a neckvise submission. Angel escaped and got a sunset flip for two but Cage got to his feet first and hit an STO. Cage locked Angel in a front face lock with both arms hooked but Angel fought out into a suplex for two. As Cage distracted the referee, Gina hit Angel with a head scissor from the top rope. This helped out a bit but Angel recovered and hit Cage with a brainbuster. Cage fought out of a suplex and hit a tornado DDT for two. Just when things looked good for Angel, Lee won the match with some help from tights.

(5) Seal defeated Dany Only (w/Diego Ryu Vazques).

Before the match Seal said he knows Cuban Assassin is afraid of him and he accepts Cuban’s challenge to a Russian Chain match. Seal took some time to also get to know Vazques and his family. Seal was confused where Vazques’ daughter was. He told the fans where she was and the Siberian Wolf came into the building with her wrapped in a chain. He told Only and Vazques something bad was going to happen and he wouldn’t be held responsible, the Cuban Assassin was. This led to Only getting the beating of his life. That was until Torcher distracted the Wolf with a hamburger. Vazques’ daughter was freed and she ran to her mother who was in the crowd. This took Seal’s advantage away and allowed Only to go on the attack. That attack ended when Seal pinned Only with a loaded punch to the face. Seal kept beating on Only’s face until Torcher came out and ran Seal off. Both men traded words on the mic before being separated.

(6) FPWA Tag Team champions “Miami Pound Machine” Rod Steel and “the Marquee” Bruce Santee (w/ “Supermodel” Amy Love) defeated David Mercury of Fahrenheit 420.

Before the match Santee claimed Rod Steel was injured in a car accident and he had a replacement masked partner, none of the people believed for a second that it wasn’t Steel. Mercury came out alone, claiming Stash was visiting a facility in Canada after being stopped with some medical supplies. Apparently Santee and his partner had a language barrier as Mercury had them on the run for several minutes. That was until the numbers game got to Mercury and Santee went to work on Mercury as Love was “translating” with Steel, I mean the masked man. Mercury did all he could to try and fend off defeat as the fans were solidly behind him. Santee and the masked man hit Mercury with everything in their arsenal but he refused to be pinned. This led Santee to pitch a fit (like the southern folks say) and Mercury to hit Santee with right hand punches. The bad part was Mercury got decked with a clothesline and Santee called for the Big Dump. But Mercury countered out and hit a superkick. Mercury fought off both men only to be hit with the 24/7. Santee appeared to have tweaked his neck but left under his own power.

(7) In Match three of the best of five, “Superfan” Mark Zout as Markind defeated “Irish Destroyer” Heater in a Kiss My Foot match.

This match was not a technical affair, especially with Wolf lurking around ringside. Both men brawled around ringside and back into the ring several times, neither gaining a true advantage until Wolf grabbed Zout when he went to re-enter the ring. Heater got ahead of himself, removing his right boot to use as a weapon. But after he hit Zout, Zout got to his feet and stomped on the uncovered foot. Zout went for Socko but Wolf got in the ring which allowed Heater to recover. Heater hit the back cracker and removed Socko from Zout’s hand. Both men ended up punching the other but Zout hit a double arm DDT. Zout removed Heater’s sock and used it as Socko. The Wolf pulled Heater to the floor to avoid Socko but Heater’s distraction backfired and he ran into Socko, leading him to being pinned. But once the bell sounded Wolf slid in and decked Zout, seeming to negate the foot kissing. Heater challenged Zout to place his gimmick on the line next month.

(8) FPWA Florida State champion Aaron Epic defeated Pro Wrestling Guerilla’s Joey Ryan.

This was Ryan’s return to Florida after a successful debut in the 2006 Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup. After the bell both men went through a feeling out process which ended when Epic was backed out of a corner and Ryan smacked his hands. He claimed Epic punched him. Ryan backed Epic into a corner and Epic pulled the same trick. On the next exchange both men smacked their hands but neither fell down. Referee Billy Dalton smacked both of them trying to restore order. At one point Ryan blocked a hip toss and asked Dalton for something, which turned out to be an inhaler. Ryan took a puff and executed the hiptoss. Epic tried to chase Ryan around ringside but somehow he lost track of Ryan, who ran around the concession stand and decked Epic. Once the action came back to the ring an eye gouging contest broke out as each man in the ring was temporarily blinded. This led to three below the belt shots and Epic taking down Ryan in a stretch. Ryan got to his feet but Epic tripped him up on a rope run. Epic hit a running forearm and a northern lights suplex for two. Epic went back to the mat stretch but let it loose to kick Ryan in the ribs. Ryan blocked a move and hit what looked like a pump handle exploder. Ryan hit several offensive moves, trying to wear Epic down. Epic bailed to the floor so Ryan followed with a tope to the unsuspecting Epic. When they reentered the ring Ryan hit a top rope move for two. Epic went for the STD and hit it but Ryan kicked out. Ryan hit Epic with a series of kicks to the head and got two. Ryan set up Epic for the dreaded Mustache Ride but Epic came off with an Acecrusher. Epic made a nonchalant cover and it allowed Ryan to place his foot on the ropes. Epic went up top but came down to canvas as Ryan avoided contact. Ryan went up top but Epic pushed Dalton into the ropes, causing Ryan to fall. Epic hit another Acecrusher like move to win with some help from both of his feet being on the bottom rope.

(9) In a return match, Team Canada (A1 and “Hotshot” Johnny Devine) defeated the Psychedelics (James Morrison and Jerome Hendrix)

After trading verbal insults and calisthenics, the match began with the Psychedelics having control when Devine was in but both had trouble matching up with the power of A1. Instead they used that power by turning it into leverage moves. That was until Devine reversed a Hendrix Irish whip and A1 pulled the top rope down, sending Hendrix crashing to the floor. Team Canada went to work, using several naughty tricks to wear down Hendrix despite the fans being solidly in his corner. At one point Devine tossed Hendrix to the floor where A1 broke the Canadian flag pole across Hendrix’s back. Referee Richie Rich had his hands full as Morrison kept trying to save his partner, but it only hurt him as Team Canada continued to beat down Hendrix. Somehow Hendrix avoided defeat, countered Devine’s slingshot moonsault and finally tagged in Morrison. All four men fought in and around the ring. This got dangerous as Hendrix went for a cross body block and Devine pulled the referee into the move, sending Richie Rich to the mat. The Psychedelics continued to beat down on Team Canada. They called for referee Billy Dalton to count the pinfall but Team Canada quickly jumped the Psychedelics, using their own Hart Attack to pin them as Richie Rich recovered, not realizing the match had ended. After the match the Psychedelics vented their frustration on the house mic. Morrison challenged Team Canada to a rematch in the near future.

(10) In a No DQ match, “Maverick” Matt Bentley defeated “400 Pound Monster” Torcher (w/Arsen) to become FPWA Heavyweight champion.

Bentley avoided Torcher until Torcher followed Bentley to the entry way and smashed his head into it, then the wall. Torcher went to the locker room and came back with a folding table. As Torcher took it to the ring, Bentley decked him. Torcher recovered and hit Bentley with a chair shot to the ribs. Torcher’s next chair shot hit wall instead of Bentley. This bought Bentley some time, not enough as Torcher hit a splash against the wall. The action finally came back to the ring where Torcher decked Bentley with several right hand punches. But Torcher’s corner splash met Bentley’s boot, then his shoulder met the ring post. Bentley saw the chance and attacked the injured arm with an armbar. Arsen got the fans behind Torcher as he fought to his feet and fought off Bentley only to be hit with a cross armbreaker for two. Bentley went back to the injured arm of the champion, trying to break it at the wrist. Torcher got to his feet once more but this time Bentley dropped the injured arm across his shoulder resulting in a two count. Bentley was relentless in his attack, taking the arm in another submission hold. Torcher fought to his feet a third time, this time Torcher hit Bentley with a sidewalk slam but couldn’t capitalize on the move. Both men got to their feet and traded right hand punches but Torcher’s had more pop to them. Torcher hit Bentley with three clotheslines and a corner splash. Torcher hit a belly to belly suplex but got two to the crowd’s shock. Torcher went for a Black Hole Slam but Bentley countered into an STO for two as Torcher broke the count grabbing the bottom rope. With Torcher down, Bentley got the table Torcher brought to the ring. Bentley set it up and grabbed a chair to deck Torcher. But Torcher grabbed Bentley, hitting the Black Hole Slam for two. Torcher set up Bentley for a power bomb but Bentley hit several right hand punches which caused Torcher to fall to the mat. Bentley placed Torcher on the table and went up top. Arsen pleased with Bentley to stop and dragged Arsen into the ring. As Bentley went to put Arsen into the table, Torcher scooped up Bentley for an Angle slam. From the crowd came Python who decked Torcher with a chair shot. Bentley covered Torcher and became the new champion. However Python and Bentley weren’t done. Python put a chair in front of Torcher’s face and Bentley hit a superkick. After the match Bentley and Python told the fans there was a new sheriff in town.
