ECW Results - 18th July *Spoilers*

ECW on Sci Fi opened with a video feature from Saturday Night's Main Event setting up tonight's main event of ECW champion The Big Show vs. The Undertaker. Who wants to take bets on how long before The Great Khali shows up for the finish?

"Let the Bodies hit the floor. The Tribe of Extreme has Risen Again." Yes, it's the OVW theme song.

Kelly's Expose opens the show as she once again shows us how to be 19, on national television and the anti-Stacy Keibler when it comes to dancing ability. The song this week is "Chelsea" by Stefy, who apparently are cheaper to deal with than Metallica. Mike Knox comes out to stop her. Tazz says it's getting redundant. Yeah, no kidding. Knox brought Kelly with him to the ring as Tazz and Joey Styles discussed Knox being caned last week by the Sandman.

In the ring, Knox took the ring mic and told Kelly that because of her desire to be an exhibitionist, he was beaten by Sandman. They show clips on the ECW Tron. What is this, Raw? Wait, never mind, I know that answer. Knox tells Kelly that she will never take her clothes off in public again. Holy Marc Mero, Batman! Knox told her to get in his corner and watch what he's going to do to the Sandman. Sandman made his grand entrance from the crowd. Joey Styles said he epitomizes Extreme.

Sandman vs. Mike Knox

Sandman did the WWE version of his entrance, including walking the guard rail wall. They announced it was Extreme Rules, with the stipulation getting its own very special graphic. Knox cut off Sandman as he slid into the ring and began beating him down. Sandman began fighting Knox off in the corner but Knox got the better of him again. They brawled outside to the announcer's table, where Knox slammed Sandman's face into it. He whipped Sandman into the railing with Sandman taking a flip bump into the rail. Knox strangled Sandman with a wire at ringside. They noted that everything was legal, so of course the referee was telling them to get back in the ring.

Back in the ring, Sandman used a boot to cut off a Knox charge in the corner. Knox rolled out of the ring by Kelly. Sandman grabbed the Singapore Cane and went to hit Knox, who pulled Kelly in the way and she took the shot. A bet a few people backstage loved that. They returned to the ring, where Knox lowblowed Sandman and scored the pin.

Your winner, Mike Knox!

Knox walked off, leaving Kelly behind out cold on the floor. Sandman sold the low blow and finally rolled out of the ring. They showed replays of Kelly taking the cane shot. Kelly did a stretcher job.

Joey Styles announced that they had a "Wrestlemania quality" main event in Big Show vs. The Undertaker tonight.

They showed "The Reject" Shannon Moore standing backstage, teasing his eventual debut.

They showed a replay of Sandman caning Kelly, followed by her stretcher job. The camera shot made sure to focus on her breasts.

The original ECW theme began to play and Paul Heyman came out with two members of the riot squad, wearing biker helmets. Heyman said that his children (the fans) must all drink the Kool-Aid from the same glass. He said last week, he explained that the fans caused him to insure the Big Show defeated Rob Van Dam for the ECW title and then suspend RVD for 30 days for "his own well being." Heyman said that he senses more then a little confusion and says that he understands it's hard to keep up with Heyman's superior intellect.

Tommy Dreamer's music hit and he made his way to the ring. Joey Styles explained that Dreamer was Heyman's right hand man in the original ECW. Tazz said Dreamer will fight to the death for you and noted that Dreamer was his best man when he got married, which is true. Heyman told his guards to let Dreamer into the ring.

Dreamer said that he's been with Heyman since the beginning of ECW and watched Heyman prove so many people wrong. He said that right or wrong, he's always had Heyman's back but everyone is confused in the locker room. Dreamer said that Heyman is way out there and for everyone who stood by Heyman, bled for him and sacrificed for him, he owes the locker room and the fans an explanation. Heyman blamed the creative team. OK, he didn't but I would have enjoyed that. Dreamer said, "What the hell is up with you?"

Heyman grabbed Dreamer and kissed him. That's not a typo. PAUL HEYMAN KISSED TOMMY DREAMER. Beulah and Kimona this wasn't. Dreamer was shocked but didn't get the chance to react, because....

Test attacked Dreamer and hit a big boot. Test beat the hell out of Dreamer and left him laying as Heyman walked out. Joey Styles questioned if Test was doing the bidding of ECW.

Sabu is up next. Hopefully he doesn't try to kiss Danny Doring or something.

They pushed the ECW live events. Terry Funk's picture in the ECW Live Events graphic has been replaced with Kelly Kelly.

Balls Mahoney did a promo backstage. He said that he doesn't fit into society and is a bit nuts but likes himself that way.

Sabu made his way to the ring.

Sabu vs. Stevie Richards

We've got a rematch from Saturday Night's Main Event. They showed clips from NBC. Sabu dove at Richards, who evaded him. This match isn't under Extreme Rules and doesn't get a cute graphic. The storyline is whether Sabu can hang under traditional rules. Richards shoulderblocked Sabu. Sabu got a two count with a backslide and another with a schoolboy. The fans chanted for tables. Those fans aren't paying attention to the lack of graphics. Richards got a two count. Stevie used an armbar on Sabu and worked over Sabu. Sabu fought his way out with a series of rights. Sabu whipped Stevie into the corner, then clotheslined him. Sabu ducked a clothesline and dropkicked Stevie's ankle. Sabu hit a guillotine legdrop across the back of Stevie's neck, but Richards got his shoulder up. Sabu hit a twisting DDT and forced Richards to tap out to the Camel Clutch. Sabu, bradishing a spike between his teeth, chased the referee away from ringside. A good match.

Backstage, CM Punk went over his credentials, noted that he's trained extensively all over the world. He said it's time to compete with the best and he's going to savor the anticipation for his debut. WWE is doing a good job building to Punk's debut, as long as he doesn't start losing matches when he debuts.

Fertig the Vampire was somewhere, cutting a promo. He said some don't want to look into the past but it's easy for some to see into the future. He was with Ariel the Tarot Card Reader. He asked her what was in the Big Show's future. She pulled the "Death" card.

In what was obviously a line fed to him, Joey Styles called Big Show vs. Undertaker, "Literally, the biggest main event in ECW history." I can't believe Tazz didn't just slap Styles for that one and start cutting an old school promo. It's one thing to hype the new ECW, it's another thing to be so arrogant about doing it, you come off ridiculous and erode the credibility of your announcers in the process.

They showed clips of the Ric Flair vs. Big Show Extreme Rules match from last week. That was one hell of a match, but something about Ric Flair taking thumbtack bumps seems to wrong to me.

ECW champion Big Show made his way to the ring as they went to commercial.

ECW champion The Big Show vs. The Undertaker

Joey Styles put over the amazing turn of events that led Undertaker to ECW, noting it was his first match since Judgment Day as well as his ECW debut. It's pretty funny Undertaker was on Sci Fi since during WWE's first run with USA, they developed a Sci Fi series for Undertaker that never made it to production.

Big Show kicked and beat away on Undertaker in the corner, but Taker made a comeback. Big Show took him out with a headbutt and continued to work him over in the corner. Taker and Show continued to trade blows. Show took him down with a headbutt again. Taker tried to take Show down with a series of clotheslines, but Show stayed on his feet then kicked Taker down with a big boot to the face. Show clotheslined Taker over the ropes, with Taker landing on his feet before going down. They went to commercial as Taker tried to recover on the floor.

When they returned from commercial, Undertaker was on the apron battling The Big Show. They showed Show ram Taker into the ring post during the commercial break. Taker cracked Show who went down. Taker rebounded off the ropes but Show, on one knee, shoulderblocked him down. Taker made a comeback and headbutt him, but it seemed to hurt Taker more. Show came out of the corner with a clothesline on Taker. Show punched Taker with a big right, sending Taker to the floor. Show followed and slammed him head-first into the steel ring steps. Styles noted that Taker is facing The Great Khali this weekend at the Great American Bash.

Take began fighting back with a series of elbows. Taker maneuvered Show on the apron and kicked him in the side of the head. They continued the fight in the ring but Show took Taker down with one shot, then hit another headbutt. Taker went for a leglock on Show, but Show went to the ropes to break it. Show continued to beat down Taker, but the fans rallied Taker.

Show continued the assault but Taker kept firing back. Taker began getting the better of the exchange. He grabbed Show's throat for a goozle, but Show kicked him low. he charged Taker in the corner but Taker kicked him, then went for the knee with a chopblock. Taker scored a two count. Taker hit a big running clothesline in the corner, then climbed the ropes for Old School. Show had it scouted and crotched Taker. Show ascended the turnbuckles and suplexed Taker into the ring. I was waiting for the Show-Brock Lesnar ring implosion.

Taker sat up and grabbed Show for the chokeslam. Show grabbed Taker as well. Neither man got the move as Show kicked Taker. Show locked on his new cobra clutch styles finisher. Taker climbed the ropes for Old School to break it, then jumped off the ropes. Show fell out of the ring.

The Great Khali made his way towards the ring with Daivari, Taker met him in the aisle and they started brawling. Show joined in and it was two on one on Taker. They rang the bell. Taker got a chair and started swinging wildly at his foes. Show and Khali overpowered Taker and both chokeslammed him through the announcing table. They showed several replays.

Yes, Virginia, ECW on Sci Fi ended with The Great Khali standing over the Undertaker bellowing. Extreme my....at least they worked hard and the match itself was solid.

It's obvious the WWE strategy will continue to be loading up ECW every week with "name" talent until they get a longer commitment from Sci Fi. I understand that but at the same time, it serves to make all the ECW names that are supposed to be carrying the brand look as if they are second and third tier characters.

I agree that they're doing a good job with Punk's promos. It allows the fans to get to know him a bit better before he debuts.

Most ECW fans are true wrestling fans anyways, so they probably already know who CM Punk is.
