The feeling inside the WWE was that there wasn't enough time left open at the Royal Rumble to put a ECW Championship Match on the Pay Per View. WWE knows that CM Punk is a big draw for the ECW brand, and even the WWE, so they plan on letting him into one of the six spots left in the Royal Rumble. With that said, Punk should be retaining the ECW title really soon.

Well that makes more sense, but just think, if Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio win, the cruiserweights will be back...

wait are you saying Magic Johnson is black, has AIDS and has it better than ME?
Former ECW champion CM Punk defeated Chavo Guererro at last night's Supershow in Providence, Rhode Island to qualify for the Royal Rumble. Punk is the 25th man announced for the Rumble match, leaving 5 spots open heading into the PPV.

Does anyone believe that Punk may have a legitimate shot? I see him feuding with Edge in the near future, but most likely at No Way Out rather than WM.

I made a post about an Edge, Punk feud a short while back in Wrestling Discussion, and since then it seems to have progressed nicely into the buildings of a feud. I'd really like to see at Mania.

But we all know that Taker will get the shot at Edge at Mania

That was the only reason I couldn't see the storyline working out, I guess Blade's No Way Out alternative could work.
I also see it at No Way Out to keep Edge busy untill Mania, I dont think Punk is ready to main event Mania yet, maybe he will get his ECW Title back there though.
