Not including Raw on 17th September Things I Liked
Hunter's match with Shelton, nice stuff. These two play off well together, although it was just another reminder of what a waste of Shelton's talent his current position is.
Santino. I just love this guy. His "you trick me once shame on me, no, shame on you. It doesn't matter" spiel was great. He is the only comedy working on this show.
Although I hated the initial comedy segments in the opening skit with JBL (usually a comedy God), Khali, Vince and "god don't let him near the mic again" Jeff Hardy, the finish was fine for me. I know it's Hornswoggle, but like most people I guess this is just for the purpose of a one month joke before Kennedy returns and it turns out it was him all along. Vince made it better than it should have been with his "you're older than me" to Hacksaw and his little "bye Tommy" to Dreamer. Maybe this women gave birth to twins and Kennedy is Hornswoggles brother! They've got the same hair!
Cade/Murdoch and London/Kendrick. Props to these guys mainly because they were positioned in the "death" slot on the PPV (where the womens title match usually goes) and, although initially treated in the same cold way as an invite from Jayman to a bbq at his house, these guys worked so hard and well together that, by the end, the crowd were actually into this. In the death spot. Well done guys!
MVP & Hardy (still). Yes, yes. I still love this feud. It must continue forever. It's just beautifully written and both guys are playing their parts fully. It just goes to show that you can indeed have a feud that raises both guys profiles and not just ones that squash one guy to death.
Kane & Finlay. Good match at Summerslam, good Belfast Brawl on Smackdown. Finlay is a god that makes all his matches so fine when they're given time PLUS the guy has shown that he can work anyone else's style as he's had excellent match ups with everyone from Kane to Mysterio. Must be grateful he's thus far missed Khali though!
Punk & Burke. It was necessarily put together at the last minute, but this is a nice little feud. Both guys are worthy on the mic, in the ring and have good matches. Plus they have a nice little bit of history between them. In the absence of Morrison this was a good way to go.
I'll rant about what happened following this match later, but first props to Angle and Lethal for an amazingly good match at the PPV. Truly excellent. Almost the sort of thing that could be used to create a star you'd think (however....see below!)
Also props to the Tag Team gauntlet, I though this would be a complete clusterfuck but it was actully by and large really well booked, logical and with stand up efforts from many out there. Bravo to all there for this one.
Things I Didn't
John Cena's tears. On the one hand, yes he should be upset, he should be pissed off, but sweet jesus the guy was crying about his father getting kicked. And whilst this should have been reflecing raw emotion to me, I just couldn't help thinking "what a pussy, yer Dad got kicked, he didn't die, he's okay now, and your going to get the mofo that did it on Sunday....get over yourself dude"
Hunter's complete demolition of Carlito, I didn't mind that to be honest. Carlito has phoned it in for so long that if a main eventer wants to beat his ass in a programme, I don't care. What I don't appreciate though is the logic here. I mean, had this been a Title match they were booking and Hunter could have lost his Gold if he lost the match then fine. It has meaning. But this was just a shitty PPV match that meant nothing. Look at it logically, if I'm Hunter then I'm thinking I don't give a crap what Coach tells me the stipulation is, if Carlito comes at me with a chair I'm just hitting him with chair shots back. Why do I care if I lose BY DQ, a shitty match just so a guy can try and re-injure me.
Candice simpering "well I'm just going to try, who knows" commentary on Raw. She came across as pathetic and just kept repeating herself. No champion should sound like this!
Khali's match with Jeff Hardy. (a) I hoped that Wrestlemania was going to prove a watershed in stopping all these inter promotional matches and (b) good god Khali outdid himself for being horrendous in this match. He gave Hardy absolutely nothing. No effort, consistently in the wrong place. It used to be said that Benoit & Angle could have a match with a mop and have a pretty good one. This may be true, but both would struggle with Khali. A mop would be more helpful since that would actually do nothing to
prevent you having a good match!
The Teddy & Kristal bridal/batchelor showers. Haven't we had this sort of sketch a million times before. Boring then, boring now. Why would Teddy wanna hang with the Major Brothers. Even I wouldn't do that!
Chuck Palumbo's additon of Michelle McCool. Now yes, she is somewhat porkworthy, but is it just me or has her addition to Palumbo's character already watering down someone that was just starting to get interesting? With her, I no longer care about him. I must be gay!
Balls & Kelly is very fine. It truly is. But please stop putting it on each and every week. You're rushing an angle that could play out real well. Plus.....I want to know more about these people. Can we see where the girls live? Do they all live together with Miz? Why are they with him? Let's know more about this people....details, details....then people will care!
Taker & Henry. Please, please, please. Stop putting a still wonderful talent/worker in the Taker in the ring with the biggest clumsiest schmucks you have in the group and then wondering why his matches suck and he keeps getting injured.
TNA can suck a big schlong (once again). WTF were they doing in the whole Kurt/Sting/Karen crappola. Just made no sense at all. Kurt worked hard to get the tag belts (in his mind), his wife then actively recruited Sting to team with him. This could have had that whole MVP/V1 Heel/Face team thing going on and had a good ongoing story. But no, for no reason Karen decided to pretend Sting slapped her (a clear non contact to which Don West told us "Sting slapped her" no he didn't Don, fucking watch what we're watching you doofus) and screw Sting.....who she recruited....out of the tag belts, and the other person in that team was her husband? This makes no sense. Why did Kurt not just look at the cameras after and say, oh I see what happened!
Black Reign. Do I have to put a reason why the fat guy with the dangerous (fatter) mouse sucks? I hope not. But why the hell in this match at the PPV was Chris Harris (a face) handcuffing the heel to the ropes, just to have the heel excape in a face move? Fuck I hate Russo (and don't tell me he doesn't book this crap!)
Why would Abyss be so keen to have a steel ring match with Angle, when he clearly is under threat from beneath the ring, thus trapping himself for the inevitable finish......fuck you Russo...this company could actually be good!
David Sahadi. The guy who used to do those wonderful video packages for WWE and also some for TNA too. Now director of their programming. The guy who missed two finishes to matches on the PPV (including the one that was meant to be providing the ESPN moment of Pacman Jones winning the tag belts). I have mentioned this before but this guy should be taken outside and have his testicles removed by a meat eating wild beast (not Rhino). And please TNA stop cutting backstage to six different people all shouting loudly at each other. You do this all the frikking time, stop it, it's just annoying! And someone tell Dr Nash that his continual love of trying to make work-shoot style comments is also annoying as hell "Hey Jay, take a dive in the match with Kurt"....."Hey Nash, shut the hell up making the same style of work-shoot comments that you thought were so great in WCW in 1999 before you helped kill them off"
Have I mentioned before how I love TNA performers but their booking sucks a big African sized dick. Maybe mentioned this once or twice before?? WTF were they thinking with Jay Lethal. A guy who they have built up a little, put in a PPV match with Kurt Frikkin Angle of all people, who (along with Lethal) works his ass off to make the PPV best match. All is well, now run with this guy you'd think. That's what any decent booking would be wouldn't it. But NOOOOOOOOOO.....this is TNA. Take that guy that you put cleanly over Kurt Angle and, just a few days later, book him to lose clean to Christopher Daniels. You frikking morons TNA. You ph@il on a royal scale. Jesus this is a tough company to watch, it's like they deliberately do stupid stuff. I swear if any of us tried to book a really bad show, it would still be better than any of their efforts. They have so much talent there, have been given such a great chance by Panda and yet are so fucking clueless. C***suckers!!
