Edge was taken out of the match, that's why his streak is still alive. When Jeff did that leg drop thingy, they took Edge out (but left Jeff in).
We all understand that, but if he was in a match, and he didn't win it, then it doesn't stack up as a streak -vs- streak match with Taker. Taker has won all his matches, Edge cannot come out and justify a winning streak -vs- well I've not been pinned at Mania streak match.
This is something that many on here were looking forward to WWE doing at Mania over the next few years and, rightly, some were pissed that WWE took an incredibly short sighted decision to put such a main eventer in the opening MiTB match just to have him taken out of it anyway.
Since he and Orton were not involved in the finish of the match, it would have made much more sense for the match to have been a singles one between them (it's not a big stretch to have a heel versus heel match, hell crowd reaction always made Edge more a heel tweener anyway) and for MiTB to have still been a 6 man as in previous years.
Did we really have to have Khali-vs-Kane or Ashley-vs-Melina, I could have made room for this!

^^^I just hope this tuime around if Edge gets the belt he actually pins somebody cleanly. I get the chicken shit heel character, and enjoy it, but if every friggin win is by cheating it gives his character zero cred. imo.
I call it the "Christian Curse". Its a totally valid point though. HHH is the only one that I can think of that never needed to cheat as a heel, but there are extremes of cheating and they are exploiting it with Edge. Not a fan of that either.
I hope for the feud they dig up some old Brood/Ministry footage. Maybe have Edge come up through the stage with the old brood entrance and talk shit saying he knows all about being theatrical, so the Undertaker doesn't scare him etc...

I didnt even think of that. To be honest, they should have never included him in that match in the first place unless he was scheduled to win. The MITB match has enough cred that it doesnt need him.

There is a good chance that Edge will be back on television very soon. God knows they need talent. If not by No Mercy than by Survivor Series in November at the latest.
