WWE Combating Ratings Fall, Konnan Hospitalized

-- On the heels of Raw's disastrous rating this week, Vince is encouraging the writing team to come up with some "out of the box" ideas to help turn things around. There are having meetings today and tomorrow regarding what to do about turning things around. The writing team is said to be under major stress due to the low rating and the pressure of coming up with something good.

-- Former TNA star Konnan was hospitalized yesterday in Tijuana, Mexico with problems stemming from the aftermath of his kidney replacement surgery due to issues with his body rejecting the donor kidney. Konnan will be kept for observation until tomorrow at the earliest, but it could be significantly longer if he doesn't respond well to anti-rejection drugs. He won't be appearing at this week's AAA TV tapings in Mexico obviously. He actually planned on making his return at said tapings.

Maybe this means they have to go back further than 1997 for storylines?

Generally speaking a lot of the storylines from January to May this year were "old school" wrestling based storylines and helped the company put on a hell of a turn in that period.

Vince wouldn't go far wrong going back to that, however at that time he was able to rotate Edge and HBK in the main event feuding on Raw and Taker on Smackdown. He's missing those guys a lot now, but how long can you rely on two of those performers who are now in the closing stages of their careers.
