| Konnan, X-Pac & Disco talk "drugs" There was an article about "mark" doctors in the New York Daily News that had quotes from Konnan, X-Pac (Sean Waltman) and Disco Inferno (Glen Gilbertti)who was recently busted in a gambling raid in Atlanta.
They had quotes from Albany Assistant DA Christopher Baynes, who said prescription drug abuse is an epidemic, noting that many people got started thinking that painkillers and such were good for them, substances that helped heal the body, plus people naturally trust what they are prescribed by doctors.
They may hate going to the doctor and perhaps not trust doctors in general, but many feel if you are prescribed something, that substance is safe.
"Everybody knows a doctor who's a mark," Konnan noted.
Waltman said he got hooked on painkillers after Curt Hennig introduced him to them, but said he couldn't blame Curt for his issues because it was always a personal choice.
"I choose not to point the finger at anyone but ourselves. But back then, the ring was really hard. I was working 300 days a year. A lot of traveling. It was --- miserable."
Both Konnan and Disco talked about the wild WCW parties, and their claims weren't much of an exaggeration if at all. That was a totally wild time.
"It was, 'Here's some coke, here's some pot, here's some meth,'" Konnan says.
"We had raves we went to all night, everybody on (Ecstasy) and GHB." Disco added: "We couldn't wait to get to the bar after each show. The wrestlers, announcers, everybody was rushing to the nearest bar to get a seat. You had just performed in front of a live audience, the adrenaline was pumping, it was literally like we were rock stars. With GHB, there's a reason it is so good. If you experiment with it - we call a dosage a 'cap' - it gives you this great buzz. But there's a very fine line between taking a cap and abusing it. You'd have guys getting what I call 'G'd out.' They'd take way more than a dosage and next thing you know they were asleep in their soup". |
