There will be no Ric Flair vs. Carlito match at WrestleMania.
When they had the idea of putting the two together, it was for an eventual split and feud, but they wanted a longer playing storyline so the idea was that the split would come after Mania. However, after Flair cut a great promo on Carlito to start the storyline, there was a movement to speed up the angle for Mania. Flair was told by one of the writers that the match for Mania was on. Then two weeks ago, he was told that the match was officially off.
Flair & Carlito will probably still involved at WrestleMania, but in a scheduled Tag Team Battle Royal for wrestlers not booked on the card. No word yet if this match will be taking place during the PPV or as a "dark match" to be shown on the WrestleMania DVD. It will likely be the latter scenerio.
Flair is said to be extremely disappointed by the news, especially considering that he was planning on making this WrestleMania as the next to last Mania of his career, at least as he stands mentally now.
I'm probably the only one but I would still love to see Hogan come back in next year (minus the 800 radio interviews) and fight Ric Flair. I know it wouldn't be a great match and it'd be hard to get one over as a heel but i think for nostaligia reasons it would be great. It'd also be a great sendoff for Flair if he did hang em up.
That's fucking gay, why won't they just give Carlito something worthwhile? He hasn't yet since joining WWE. Last year he got fucked over by an idiotic tag match with Master's, now still no MITB tho' he would have stole the show, or come close!!
We have seen Flair/Hogan many times before (in WCW, they never really had a one-on-one match in WWE).
Crash, they gave Carlito the US Title in his very first match and they gave him the IC Title the same night he was drafted to RAW. He should be on WM though (on TV).
I know that, he started out on the right track, but I just mean big matches, or big PPV matches. He won both on SD!/RAW. He would fit so much better in the ladder match than either Booker or Fit.
Yeah Carlito by no means should main eventing anything
However I would agree with Jako, Hogan vs Flair would be the way to go for me if Hogan would put his ass over not to mention if Charles Robinson refs it I would mark like all hell because of the throw back value to WCW. But im not counting on Hogan being level headed enough to allow such an awesome moment.
First of all, Carlito should be on the card. Obviously he's not ready for the main event picture but when you have someone like Khali getting his own match at Mania I really have to wonder what the hell kinda shit managment is smoking and where can I find some?
As for Flair, I've been one of the many that would like to see him semi-retire for his own good, but what's the point in keeping him around to wrestle fulltime and then when you could use his star power at a huge event such as this one... he's nowhere to be found.
I can't believe if they have room to put MVP on Wrestlemania, they wouldn't have a spot for Flair/Carlito. This program was one of the best going on right now, and there won't even be a payoff for it at WM. With out luck, they'll play it out at Backlash. Whoopie.
And now, here it is...your moment of Carlin (12/2/2008)
