ROH 4th Anniversary Show results from Edison NJ

Ring of Honor returned to Edison, NJ last night before another standing room crowd at the Inman Sports Club.

Dark matches

Handsome Johnny defeated Pelle Primeau

In a ROH student match, Derek Dempsey and Rick Titus defeated Smash Bradley and Jason King

The fun with CZW started early, as well-known CZW fan/helper Chad Shaft was heckling, only to get the students storming into the stands to jump Shaft. Shaft was hen thrown out of the building by the students, security, and Gabe Sapolsky.

BJ Whitmer defeated Shane Hagadorn with a double suplex and powerbomb combination.

Fourth anniversary show results

The Briscoe Brothers defeated Tony Mamaluke and Sal Rinauro and Jason Blade and Kid Mikaze. Briscoes got a great reaction from the moment their music hit...but it wouldn't be the last time the Briscoes were around, but it would be the last for that reaction..

"Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce won the Four Corner Survival over Claudio Castagnoli, Azrieal, and Jay Fury with a splash off the top rope

Samoa Joe defeated Jay Lethal after a third musclebuster in a good competitive match. Some in the crowd wonder if Lethal got too much offense in the match, given Joe's monster image

Christopher Daniels and BJ Whitmer went to a no contest after Chris Hero, Necrobutcher, DJ Hyde, CZW promoter Maven Bentley, and CZW fan Chad Shaft (who'd been thrown out earlier) crashed the ring. Hero serenaded the ROH fans with an unprintable version of Happy Birthday. Then, the ROH locker rooms came came out to clear the ring. Chris Hero came out again, but got put in a choke by Samoa Joe.

Then, at the end of the brawl, the Briscoes suddenly attacked Roderick Strong and Austin Aries.

After all the fun and the end of the brawl(s), Colt Cabana and Homicide joined in the side of "team ROH", then segued into their "Ghetto fight" match.

Homicide defeated Colt Cabana in a "ghetto fight". 10 minutes in, Homicide choked out Cabana with a hanger. The referee called for the bell. Cabana got on the mike, told Homicide he hadn't given up, and that he'd have to kill him to win. Homicide defeated Cabana a second time, after tying him to the ring post, and hitting him in the head with a chair until the referee called for the bell. Cabana recovered later, and challenged Homicide to come back out again referring to him as "Nelson", and saying that if he didn't come out, that Nelson's little boy would think his father was a "pussy". Homicide came out again, with Julius Smokes pouring rubbing alcohol all over Cabana's face, with the referee finally ringing the bell.

Homicide challenged Colt Cabana to a Fight Without Honor in Chicago.

In a post-intermission match thrown in owing to the fact that Jack Evans was on the way from the airport (which had been delayed as he was flying back from Japan from his DragonGate tour), Bobby Dempsey after Mitch Franklin with a Death Valley Driver. The crowd wasn't too patient with this match. ROH might ahve been better served had they just told the crowd what was up and extended the intermission (which did run long) five extra minutes.

"American Dragon" Bryan Danielson defeated Jimmy Rave to retain his ROH World Championship. This was a great match that was fun to watch, as fans saw Rave get to show the kind of work he'd done in NWA Wildside and CZW, and not just play the buffoon heel (Rave regularly gets greeted with toilet paper in a parody of the streamers thrown into the ring for Japanese talent and notables). The finish saw Danielson pin Rave down to the mat and elbow Rave to his face (messing up Rave's face) until the referee called for the bell.

Ricky Reyes beats Jack Evans with with a Dragon sleeper. Evans did look a little off, as he'd flown straight from Japan, and was taken directly to the building, without his normal gear or likely any time to warm up. The crowd was more than understanding and appreciative.

In the main event, Austin Aries and Roderick Strong retained their ROH Tag Team Championship defeated AJ Styles and Matt Sydal after Aries hit his 450 splash.

In the ring introductions, the crowd let out with a "Fuck TNA" chant after the situation with Strong and Aries staying to work the February 11 Long Island, NY show and being punished by TNA by being pulled from bookings for 2 months.

Post-match, the Briscoes jumped Aries and Strong, nailing Strong with a stuff Jay Driller. AJ Styles and Matt Sydal ran off the Briscoes to close the show.

Ring of Honor returns to Edison on May 13, and returns to action overall on March 11 in Philadelphia as part of the CZW/ROH doubleheader.

Danielson winning isn't a surprise. That was expected.
