Earlier this week, news broke that Wrestling Society X was on the verge of being cancelled. This is NOT true, however there may be big changes ahead for the fast-paced, one-of-a-kind wrestling show.
After MTV's Standards and Practices department reviewed Episode 4 of WSX, it was decided that the show would not air due to its inappropriate content. During the episode, a fireball is thrown at Vampiro by wrestler Ricky Banderas as an angle to build a title match later in the season.
MTV has a history of lawsuits filed against them by people recreating dangerous stunts seen on their programming (ex. Jackass). As a result, they have very strict guidelines as to what they will allow on television. The general rule of thumb for MTV is - "How easily can this stunt be duplicated?". This is the reason why they will allow exploding caskets but not more common weapons such as fire.
WSX producers are meeting with MTV meet next week regarding the future direction of the project. MTV has pulled all replays of WSX shows until further notice. There has also been talk of moving WSX to a different time or to Wednesday nights where it won't face direct competition from ECW.
Instead of airing WSX next week, MTV will air the show "Scarred" instead. WSX will return to its regular time Tuesday night February 27th at 10:30PM.
The following statement was posted today (2/16) on the official MySpace page of MTV's Wrestling Society X:
Hey everyone!
Quick update on the status of the program as I'm sure you all are very curious.
First and foremost, the show has not been cancelled. However Wrestling Society X will not be on next week in its normal timeslot. The show WILL resume to its normal schedule the week after.
Thank you for your support! Please be sure to let everyone know WSX will resume Feb 27 at 10:30pm on MTV!

To be honest, i'm not too surprised this was being considered to be dropped as i saw the first 2 and haven't seen any since because it wasn't really that good.

I'm glad it wasn't cancelled because I really was starting to like the show. With it having hardcore matches like the old ECW had it makes 10x more exciting then any other wrestling show in the TV. Hopefully it gets better and they don't preform stunts that could cost 'em their show.
